SCORPION EXO-1000

Has anyone here bought or used this helmet yet ? I went into a local shop today shopping for a new helmet . I really was wanting to look at the HJC carbon fiber AC-12 , yeah its light but really didnt fit me all that great . I started looking at other brands and tried on the new Scorpion Exo-1000 ..Wow ! I really was impressed with this helmet . Very comfortable ! , It seemed to carry its weight well , and had some really cool features . I have not seen any safety test results though. Here's a rider review video . They seemed to like it .http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=0 I am hoping some of you guys may have some experience with this helmet . Unless you guys suggest otherwise I am probably going to buy one of these in the next couple of days .

I have never seen or heard anything bad about them...don't know from personal experience...I would say, a lid is a lid, except for some bells and whistles, so go for it...
Then you can do a ride report in a few months...and hopefully it won't be a test report....

Does anyone already have the EXO1000? I heard (a few weeks ago) they were having trouble with distribution, so no one had 'em yet.

I'm also curious to hear feedback. I'm sure it'll be just as good (if not better) than their bang-for-the-buck EXO 400 and 700 models.

Buddy of mine got one last week with his 675, so far he loves it. Rode all the way from NC to DC and back this past weekend and had no complaints about the helmet.

Drew, are you stateside yet? I know you wrote that you don't like Icons. I have a Scorpion. It's ok - not exceptional. Would I buy another - maybe - if they gave me the tinted visor for free. $36 for a visor???? My new Halo makes me want to jump off the patio and land on my head. Sorry for the dark humor - had to lay my buddy down yesterday.

Complaining about a $36 shield!! Try owning an Arai thier shields are about $70, thank god I don't own one. The EXO-1000 just recently passed Snell testing and they were taking preorders for about 6 months so they are slowly getting out now. They are backordered for about 5 or 6 months we are hoping to get on in the store in a few months.

Very cool, ok, we have one in Mathews....So keep us up on any sales that are happening company wide....That was one of the places I applied while on my job search, but it was a bit far for me to drive....and with the traffic...
Buddy of mine over in Louisiana got some 10% coupons from the store with no experation...got any of those?

I have not seen the new 1000 in person, but I have an EXO 700 and I love it. It's more comfortable than my shoei, the visor is easy to change, and best of all it was only $170!

For anyone interested , I finally got to do a couple of hundred miles today with the new lid ( Exo-1000) . It's the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned . It vents well , the pump up cheek pads are great ! Not only do they make the helmet fit well ,they cut down on wind noise a ton . It is not the lightest helmet but, it carries its weight evenly at the lower part of the helmet. The outer anti-fog shield ( comes with it no extra $) works great ! The inner retractable shield is pretty darn convenient, Although when its down it does change your prospective view a little ( feels like your all the sudden sitting higher on the seat ) kind of a reverse magnification thing ! It just took some getting used to it . Also, when the temps started to drop I closed the vents and then the thing became super quiet . This one of the only helmets I have ever had that you can actually tell if the vents are opened or closed . All switches , levers and vents are easy to adjust on the fly with minimal fumbling and searching for them . To me there is only one thing keeping it from being a perfect helmet ....Weight ! If they could make it a half pound lighter and retain all the cool features it would be perfect . Oh well you cant have everything . But they came pretty close .

Fixed. Icon is cheap mallwear. They make stuff for hanging out, not for riding.

I'm about to order an EXO-700 (same as the -1000 without the air pump), I've test fit one a week or so ago and I'm really excited. I can't see how they're so cheap and have such nice liners and they're fiberglass shells. I'm almost scared that's it's too good to be true.

Great review, thank you!

I've have logged over 20k miles with my my EXO-700 and recommend it to everyone. They are fantastic helmets... even if they were to cost "Arai prices". The only downside (IMO) is their distribution. They require too large of an initial purchase, so the dealership I work at will not pick them up.

I hear that Dr. Nikki Sloan had a hand in the development of the 1000...
