Riding Jeans
What kind of jeans do you ride in?
|
I wear regular jeans with these underneath, and a set of alpine stars boots.

I have 3 general levels of leg protection:
Regular jeans (casual riding) Tourmaster textile pants with knee and hip protection (sport touring) Joe Rocket leather "race" type pants w/o sliders (canyon blasting) |

How's the comfort, good for all day? and how are they off the bike, ie, walking around?
Two complaints, the velcro has started to separate in a few places but doesn't effect anything at all. They also tend to ride lower the longer you have them on, after five or six hours they push down into the top of my shoes. Other than that I love 'em. I took a decent size rock to the shin a few weeks ago coming off the back of a dump truck. Knocked my leg off the bike and tore a hole in my pants. Didn't even dent the plastic on the protectors though, glad I had them on. |
I have a set of the Cortech DSX geans coming. I hope to have them by the weekend. I will give you some feed back once they are in.

Regular jeans back and forth to work and just tooling around, Draggin Jeans on the weekends.

Icon jeans are comfy. I wear my 1 piece suit most of the time though. But I've got a couple pairs of some Icon jeans that are really heavy duty, look good, but are still comfortable to wear.
|
I wear my Icon Superduty pants when I'm not "playing". They are comfortable and I can wear them to class after work without looking like a power ranger. I'm ordering a pair of Sliders 2.0 Cargo pants after reading good reviews and they seem similar to the Icon pants.
Regular Jeans? Never. |
...and do ANY come in a 36" inseam??? 33W/36IS to be exact??? Not that I can tell. All made for short people......got a song buzzin' in my head now......................................SH*T! LOL
Fish |
Hey Fish, there is an option to search for tall stuff over on NewEnough.com for gear. I've not seen anything that would fit my height 38"+, but there is lots of 36" in the tall sizes for riding pants on there.

I agree totally. I'm 6' 3" and wear a 36" inseam. I always have to order jeans and slacks. No store ever seems to have any inseams longer than 34"

Jeans these and http://www.newenough.com/armor/elbow...armor_leg.html
and now in the mail alpine star s mx 5! |
Cortech's have knee protection which I think is much more important than abrasion protection. Most jeans will provide better abrasion protection than textile anyway. A friend of mine was wearing his Cortech's and high sided landing almost like a cat on his hands and knees. Luckily the pads protected his kneecaps. MX style knee protectors are cheap and fit undetected under jeans.

Now EVERY TIME i ride i have leather on under my jeans, but if i go for a fun ride i wear my 1 piece leathers. In the country I usually wear leather jeans with a leather jacket. The best boots that I own are the smx-r's from Alpinestars. My riding apparel has been crash tested. |
