Raingear under the seat
 

Any suggestions on emergency raingear that will fit under the seat of my new Hawk? Is it possible to fit any under there?

I have a JR Lightspeed jacket coming on Friday. I had thought about just getting the hydroliner for it and some cheaper pants but I am not sure if I should just go with a whole suit or what.

The wind/waterproof liner for my Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket fits under the seat pretty easily (Corbin seat). There are probably some rainsuits that will fit under there...

I almost got the Phoenix 4.0 jacket but decided to get the Lightspeed on clearance at Newenough.com for $74. It is normally @$300.

Sounds like a good deal on that jacket... Overall I am happy with the Phoenix (3.0 I believe) jacket and other JR items I have.

I bought the TEKNIC Aquavent Textile Jacket for 63.99 (on clearance) at cyclegear.com. I keep the zip-in waterproof liner in a zip-loc bag under my seat.

Windbreaker jacket and pants from Target. $20. Rolls up real small too.

If you're fat like me, newenough has the Cortech HRX on sale for $70 under the original dealer cost. Silver only, though. It comes with zip-in rain and quilted liners and a full-circumference zipper (and little zipper) for pants.

Just wad it up....and then real quick like in a speedy fashion...stuff it under the seat and close it reeeaaalllll fast!!! Haha :spank:

An unsaid benefit of an aftermarket undertail is additional underseat storage. I kept a foot pump, plug kit, tool kit, bag of hand towels, small can of lube, and gloves in mine and still had room for a little more with careful planning.

I've got a set of Frogg Toggs that are awesome. They're super light, breathe, and waterproof. I bought mine at Bass Pro, kinda pricey, but if you look some places had them on sale for $20.

There is plenty of room on the sides of the rear seat cowl to stuff rain gear into plus room for more emergency items as well.

What brand of undertail do you have?

I got a set of Alter Ego pants and coat and the liners will fit under the seat with a little coaxing but it would be nice to have even more room.

I stuffed my side cowls with lightweight items like a cheap (potentially priceless) fuel syphon, tow rope. With tire inflation items in the center, my regular rain suit is too tight a squeeze. I keep just my rain jacket under tail for daily commuting. My rain pants come along in my tank bag on any cloudy day rides or week-enders.
