Leather Alterations Q's

Anyone ever had racing leathers altered? My friend is selling a suit for $150 that I am interested in, but it would have to be altered as he is about 275lbs and I am barely 200lbs. We are the same height.

1st question - is it even plausible to alter a suit that much?
2nd question - how much would an alteration like that cost?
3rd question - is it worth it?

Quick answer NO.

I have raced 20yrs and done almost all my own leather repairs for that time. I promise by the time you alter them you really coulda and shoulda just went on the barf wera or nesr forum and bought a set your size.

ONCE I had a set altered for size and its prohibitively expensive if the person doing it is qualified. The problem is you really don't know the answer til years later or a week later if you crash.

I have my own machine and have spend countless hours sewing leathers, grafics padding etc.

The only reason I had the one suit altered is that it was my favorite and fit like a glove, just got too tight.

Check out those forums, tons of racers are selling leathers at all times.
