Actually, $159 shipped. Ordered mine a couple days ago, delivered today. Thanks for the heads up! They also have a "superhawk" Honda jacket in black at newenough.com for about $200, almost went that way as they had better sizes and it's in black, but I'm working on other gear too, sooo....

Just don't buy that X-element stuff from Leatherup.com- that's definitely a "get what you pay for" situation.

Hmmm... not sure I would agree with that. I've had two X-element and I've got the Joe Rocket Superhawk. from a technical perspective the Joe rocket has better protection - CE shoulder armor and a back pad (not CE rated but can be swapped).
Both X-element had better venting (zippers & panels). The leather seems to be just as good as my Joe rocket. Not saying that X-element is as good as $450+ jackets, but for $90 - $150, I was very happy with the quality

Fair enough! I actually never bought a jacket from them, but did buy gloves which fit me poorly (although this is pretty variable person to person) and had thin leather and boots which had decent leather but absolutely no ankle support. I wasn't unhappy with either really for the price, but ended up buying nicer stuff eventually b/c I wasn't happy with the protection. I watched too many videos of road rash I guess :)... So I ended up spending more by trying to save.

Craigslist has been a real good source for nice jackets for me.

SuperBlink 01-12-2011 04:43 PM

Craigslist is ridiculous right now if you can afford things... Prices coming down to their real value, hell, I offered someone 140 for a year old, never worn arai, got it... Brand new A* in the box SMX-5, $`120... It's been great, as long as you can buy right now...

7moore7 01-12-2011 05:06 PM

Hahaha i didn't read past "i offered someone 140 for a year old" and thought you bought a baby.

You may want to read my whole posts, then again, you MAY not too.... lol, I'm full of it mostly...

I have the joe rocket CBR jacket that new enough has been selling for cheap. It's phenominal, and zips into my speed and strength twist of fate pants perfectly with the 360 zipper.

You do know "CE" ratings really don't mean anything. There is no oversight or independent testing. All one needs to do to get "CE" certification is fill out the paperwork and state that the item passes or meets the spec (and it is the manufacturer that fills this out) and you get a "CE" certification.

So be for warned, just because something does or doesn't have a "CE" cert. really doesn't make a difference.

SuperBlink 02-17-2011 07:38 AM

I didn't buy my LEATHER coat for CE protection...
