Bluetooth Full Face Helmets
As i am in need of a new helmet, i am currently shopping for a full face helmet with integrated bluetooth for better communication and to be able to hear my satnav.
Obviously there are not many equipped helmets in the market, but i am wondering if you guys use bluetooth in your helmets and what experiences you have. This is a link to a helmet i found and it looks to be a good deal to me... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...th-Helmet.aspx Any suggestions? Cheers |
I don't want to talk to anyone when I'm riding and just use Sony stereo bluetooth earbuds and sync with my gps/mp3 & RD. If necessary, a BT dongle will connect U with anything that has a earphone jack. A flip front helmet is especially nice when u wear eyeglasses.

I looked into them myself. Most reviews state that outside noise is too loud while at highway speeds to hear well. I use standard stereo/microphone earphones with my blackberry. You may not be able to talk while riding but at least you know you received a call and can pull over when safe to do so and I can listen to MP3's as well as use the GPS capability.

Check these headsets and helmets (see link for helmets lower right) out http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...h-intercom.htm
these are the earbuds (read down after the BT dongle) that also has a mike and can also connect to your phone http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/bluet...th-headphones/ |
thank you for the links, very interesting...obviously you guys prefer the earphones.
i like the helmet to helmet pairing function, because my gf is with me many times and the intercom cables almost killed us when forgetting them while stopping for refueling...lol anyone here with a built in solution? |

I work for CycleGear, and have been selling these helmets since they came out last year. My store, which is small, and not high volume, has sold about 40 of these in the last year. I have had 2 people say they have a lot of ambient noise. But, after talking with them, it was due to an improper fit of the helmet in both instances. These helmets are a round oval shape, and fit a little small when compared to an Arai or Shoei. They are A2DP compatible, giving them stereo sound, and sound quality is good. The price on that link, however, is a little high. CycleGear is selling them for 219.99.

I use the Oneal Element everyday to play music thru my phone. sounds good, despite a little bit more windnoise. The one complaint I have is there's a really hard spot in the helmet right on the cranium and I end up with a big red spot on the top of my forehead by the time im done riding

Bink, which helmet
3rdech, if U mean this http://www.oneal.com/catalog/product...roducts_id=514 how much and any review links also, try a metal spoon on your "hot spot" compressing the PES liner just enough to relieve it |

I have a pair of shades with earbuds build into them, bluetooth and all, loud enough to hear at any speed even with a visor open. they were a bout $15 off ebay, lot cheaper than a helmet, but of course you need a new helmet anyways.
|
Take a teaspoon and press it against the white (sometimes painted black) EPS impact liner under the lining where it is putting pressure on your head. Compress the EPS deep just enough to relieve the pressure point, moving the spoon around where needed. El Kabong gone.

yes, that is the Element helmet that CycleGear has for sale it is 219.99. sorry, no review links that I know of.
|
The noise all depends on how it fits your head.
I can use the bluetooth on my Shoei to talk while doing 100 down the freeway. Every single person I mention to that I'm riding is completely surprised because they had no issues with the sound quality. My isn't integrated though. |

Has anyone tried the Cardo Scala-rider Q2 bluetooth wireless system?
http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...=TUC_21-0138_G http://www.cardowireless.com/Q2 |
The Q2 is a good product, but not a great battery life. IMO the Q4, or Chatterbox XBI2 are much better choices.........more features, better battery, much better sound quality.
|
At the moment, reading the reviews, it comes down to the Element Helmet. Any idea how much the shipping to Spain would be?

Some of our CycleGear stores stock them now.
|
I have the Cardo Q2. It's ok. You get what you pay for. I don't have much to compare it to.
Battery life isn't an issue, I can ride to Vegas on a full charge. The radio reception is pretty weak, although I guess most places I ride are in the boonies anyways. |
I found some info on the Cardo Scala Rider G4: http://www.she-rides.com/blog/2009/0...ider-g4-vs-q2/

I had a Blutek helmet when I rode the street. Worked great. https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ghlight=blutek
