Nicky gets Pneumatic
demanded motor for Donington
http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-at-donington/ I hope it lasts and he spanks the chimp |
explain the motor...

instead of using springs to keep the valves following the cam lobe profile, it uses air. Allows for more RPM w/out "valve float". Ducati, Yamaha, and Suzuki all have been running them since the beginning of the season. The technology is trickle down from F1.

The Ducati is still desmodromic, isn't it?
|
i don't think the lack of power is nickys problem.

+1 on spanking the chimp. I assume you are talking about Rossi.
I don't think the Ducati MotoGP bikes are Desmos, since they are V4s. |
The bike built for a 110 pound rider is his problem. HRC has said that they have built the new bike more compact for a certain style of rider (Read Pedrosa). The new bike is absurdly compact, and all of the rider "aids" have made these 200+ HP monsters easier to ride for the smaller riders. I personally, would love to see these guys sliding the rear out more and having the traction control be their right hand on the throttle.

I looked it up. Ducati is still running a desmo valve train. It doesn't have the same dynamic RPM limitation of a spring and valve gear following the cam profile. I hope Valentino and Casey can keep Pedro in his place. |
SPOILER!! Well, the new engine didn't seem to help Nicky much.
But at least Stoner was able to spank the chimp (Rossi) this time. :flamethrower: |
I finally watched the race.
I have to admit, Dani Pedrosa is a great rider. The 800s seem to be less favorable for the ex-superbike racers. Nicky apparently had some electrical problem. There's just a lot of talent in MotoGP. I was happy to see Jorge Lorenzo settle down and work his way steadily forward, after recovering from injury. I think he is going to be at the top before long. |
