Lorenzo's $12,000 euro helmet

For the last race of the season, in Valencia, Jorge Lorenzo wore a gold, diamond studded helmet that cost $12,000 euros. That's close to $18,000 US, I believe.

The Speed TV announcers said it was diamond studded. But hey...diamond studded, crystal studded, it's all way too much bling for me.

Yeah, expensive, but that's not as much as the party their gonna have to celebrate this one. Jorge did the deal in honorable fashion, coming from way back with that near get-off to pass everyone and win decisively in front of the home crowd. Unbelievable!

I would love to be able to see tomorrow's testing sessions.

its not free, but I don't remember it being too expensive either to get a motogp.com account - lets you watch live races, practices, interviews etc. I bought one of the lower level ones for the season and it was worth it.

"At Sunday’s Valencia MotoGP race, Jorge Lorenzo will wear this special one-off crystal-studded helmet to commemorate his world championship. Taking 96 man-hours to create, the typically $475 X-Lite X802 was hand painted in gold and had 1,800 Swarovski crystals applied to its top in the shape of Lorenzo’s logo. Want one yourself? A snip at €12,000. Way to live up to Rossi’s nickname for you, Jorge."

Definitely not my style, but if it would make me ride like Lorenzo, I'd glue a few rhinestones to the top of my helmet.

I think I bought it in the winter, the season pass. but if you follow this article there is a link describing how to register. its not a very good website for actually purchasing a 'pass'. frequently I have to re-log in, even though my name is showing as logged in, to be able to watch stuff. and when you do pay, its never 100% clear that it all went through. better than anything I can watch on speed channel though.

that sucks. Its definitely not worth it at $40 a month. I was thinking I paid more like 75 for the entire season when I signed up at the beginning of the practice starts in the late winter.

I paid $28 for the motogp off-season pass, now til feb 28th. We'll see...........

I just get pissed off when I watch the worthless coverage of the NASCAR channel, so It's gotta be better than that.

I just don't see 12,000 Dollar or Euro in that thing. $1200, yeah, gold paint, and some expensive colored glass (Swarovski Crystal) on a top shelf helmet and $1200 makes sense. Put it on eBay and we'll find out what it's really worth.
