V-Rod-esque bike you could enjoy riding

if only...

BuellRod ? Revolution Engine Powered Buell Concept

If only... they'd have used the Rotax twin!

Bimota V-Rod HDB2 Roadster from Oberdan Bezzi
Here is another.
It would be a lot cooler if the engine had Porsche stamped into it.

That would certainly help!!

Yeah but considering the Revolution's HP and torque figures are basically what anyone who dumps thousands into the Superhawk's engine aspires to (though considering a Vrod is 200 lbs heavier than a Superhawk I'm guessing at least part of that is the engines fault) I'd imagine it'd still be a pretty fun ride. I remember riding a VRod when they came out and it feeling pretty stout (and actually a lot like a Superhawk in a straight line) and begging to be put into something along the lines of a Ducati Monster. The straight line, feet forward chassis got old fast... The Street Rod was a small step in the right direction but less chrome and a shorter wheelbase certainly would've been nice.

Also now that I think of it I also recall speaking to a Buell engineer at Daytona years ago and asked specifically why they weren't using the Revolution engine. IIRC he quickly responded with it being too big and too heavy for the type of bike they were building. Not exactly sure how a probably just as heavy and 40hp weaker (possibly more compact?) Sportster engine solved that problem, but that WAS the answer he gave me... But back to what you said, we all know how that story ended-once Buell was free of Harley's grasp they finally did, or were actually allowed to do, the sensible thing and put a real sporting engine in their bikes with the Rotax.

Still crazy to think the original Sportster was like the Hayabusa of it's time and was actually advertised as the fastest stock motorcycle you could buy. What the hell happened?

The tech tide came in and lifted all the boats but Harley.
