Super Duke GT

Welp, chalk another one up on the list of bike I'd sell the VTR for. That's 2.

Lil' funny in the front, but ain't they all now-a days?

Hangfly 12-08-2015 04:51 PM

Not 2.
You will need to sell about a half dozen VTRs to reach the price of admission.
But I know what you mean. :)

Upland111 12-08-2015 10:33 PM

Yep, If I could afford this, I would keep my Superhawk and purchase one.
I was reading several reviews, and came across one that posted a price.
Currently 17,999 euro or $19,589.21 Don't know if that is the final price, but I figured it would be in that range.
Talk about electronics, I could do without the options of MSR (Motor Slip Regulator), (works in the opposite direction of MTC). And HHC (Hill Hold Control). But some of the electronics are very useful too. Like the SuperMoto Mode, and the Cruise Control. It's hard to get away from electronics these days.

This one ticks off all the right boxes for me too..... except on the $$$$ side of the equation. I must admit I am still a bit reticent about Katoom's reliability, however....

Granted the buy-in is not cheap but if I had the means... this one would give the Multi some serious competition in my decision. I find it peculiar that the 2 bikes I lust after the most are not drop dead gorgeous. What's up with the beak trend?

Ditto. I hate beaks on bikes! Nobody is styling bikes for retro-grouches like me anymore.

I have to see this in person before I pass final judgement.

The optimistic side of me wants to believe there was actually a functional reason for the pointy front end....Aerodynamics?... and not just for the reason of form alone.
For me at least, even though it would not be my first choice in fairing and headlight design, I think the first time I whacked the throttle open in 3rd gear and got a taste of 106 ft. pd. (claimed) of torque, I would be smitten.

Too Complicated

Call me an old far but all the electronics on these new bikes just turn me off. abs tc sc alphabet soup of stuff that I will never master. Turn the key and ride the thing, using your own senses to have a good time. Its like the cell phone, home entertainment center, clicker. You have to spend hours figuring out how to set up and use the dam things. Two weeks later the clicker looses its mind and your have to start all over again, what happened to the dam on button. AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH. Ok thanks I feel better now!

Turn key, then ^^^. All else will be forgotten. ;)

The only way I could own one of those is win the lottery or steal one. The chances on both are about the same.

captainchaos 12-11-2015 10:31 AM

First time you ride it I'm sure you won't care WHAT it looks like or HOW much it costs. It's truly amazing how far these things have come since the superhawk...

Is that what we are? Retro-grouches? Haha. Whatever I just like the clean looks of 90's/early 00's sportbikes & racebikes better than what they're making now, which look like someone dropped the modelling clay on the floor crossed with some kind of bad comic-book nightmare. As I think I just heard someone say, I think the superhawk is a timeless design.

This. KTBooms are not known for being the most reliable. Seen to many of them with serious engine issues to ever buy one.

Ive ridden a lot of bikes. We currently have 6 bikes in the shed. VTR is my favorite. It makes me smile when I ride it. No its not got the most power by a long shot, its not got traction/wheelie control or even look modern. My mates on Busa's etc cant get away from me so why do I need a newer bike?

BTW our roads are mostly what you guys would call twistes. We dont have long straights so 200hp is pointless. But a good chunk of torque is a whole lot of fun.

Says the man in the supersuit.
Really though you hit it right on. Most of the new bikes (with some exceptions) look like origami trying to be a transformer.
