Goodbye SV650... Hello .......Gladius..????

Bringing GAY to a whole new level... Suzuki chopped the motor out of the SV650, threw away the remains and flopped it into this suspiciously fruity motorcycle. http://www.gladiusstyle.com/
Words I'd use to describe it..
-Closet
-The
-Of
-Out
-Coming

Yes... this is a real Suzuki AD.

"Suspiciously fruity?!" HAHAHAHAHA :) Someone remind me why killing off such a popular bike is a good idea?

inderocker 12-10-2008 10:54 PM

Suzuki should be ashamed of themselves.

Little_Horse 12-11-2008 07:19 AM

That has to be the worst add I have ever seen for a motorcycle :rotf:

Erik S. 12-11-2008 08:48 AM

The Gladius is only replacing the SV650N. The SV-650S-ABS will still be available.

That doesn't make the ad any less gay.

txrb182sc 12-11-2008 10:11 AM

WOW, I hope to get the sv650s for a track bike soon, I'm glad their not changing it. The gladius should come with a purse to leave your balls and masculinity in whenever you go to ride it.

killer5280 12-11-2008 10:20 AM

The bike isn't THAT bad, although I certainly don't like it better than the regular old SV650. The ad campaign leaves a bunch to be desired, but I guess they're trying to appeal to a non-motorcycling audience.

Barch 12-11-2008 10:23 AM

The Gladius will look even better with Corbin's new gerbil-skin seat.

motojoe 12-11-2008 10:38 AM

I saw that at the AZ bike show. My girlfriend thought it was gay too. She said it was ugly. But she loved the SV650S model.

Byrdman 12-11-2008 11:06 AM

thats just wrong. sv650 is a great bike. it should not be put to shame like this

swordfish 12-11-2008 03:12 PM

+1 it looks like the guy could be falling off the bike in the pic. great ad idea. " suzuki's newest middleweight is so much fun, you'll fall right off!" while trying to do what looks like a 12 o'clock wheelie? the fairy in the pic who I'm assuming used to be the rider only moments ago, has some sick gear too. helm..uh no, but his jacket is... uh.. ok his boots.....nope. but how about those pants! they gotta be abrassive resistant kevlar right? just really shiny, right?check it out. suzuki suuuuucks.

RK1 12-11-2008 04:53 PM

I don't know. Just because the guy in the picture looks like something between a metrosexual and a flaming fag doesn't mean the bike is no good. The Japs are a very insular, homogenious, and highly racialist society. They shouldn't be blamed for the fact that Hollyweird media portrays American men as either queers or scumbags who cheat on their wives and allow their 15 year old daughters to dress like five dollar a blow job street walkers.

BlackHawk996 12-11-2008 05:35 PM

i think the bike its self looks alright but these ads are on acid!

CentralCoaster 12-11-2008 11:09 PM

Ha! Nothing in that ad is in the closet.

I bet he can make room in back for another guy to ride.

CentralCoaster 12-11-2008 11:15 PM

There's also a feature that lets you zoom in on the queer, yet it doesn't zoom in on the half of the photo with the bike.

What the hell? This has to be some kind of joke.

The rear sets look like a lot of wasted metal in the name of looking flashy. Also appears to have some pointless plastic frame covers on each side.

The "fashionable" gear they're wearing doesn't have any pads or joint protection. I wonder how fashionable they'd look when their kneecap is laying in the centerlane of the freeway.

Cleveland 12-12-2008 05:16 AM

We have alot of scooters popping up around here... maybe their focus group is the same market ... Course maybe their focus group IS the Metro and Gay of Manhattan...

Cleveland 12-12-2008 05:18 AM

ok.. I looked at the add.. There is a girl one also. ANd HEY! They give you fashion tips on what to wear with it.

txrb182sc 12-12-2008 06:24 PM

I actually like the black and green one, I think with the right gear (actual motorcycle gear) I could un-gay the bike, or at least cancel the gayness of the bike itself. Yeah I'll have to keep myself from dancing like the pixie-guy with the sequined pants though.

Blkbird 12-12-2008 09:52 PM

who do they think actually buys their bikes? Real riders don't wear that bullshit, or listen to awful house music. They need to fire this ad agency pronto.

grasshoppermouse 12-13-2008 09:07 PM

like the bike

Ad is too fem.

still wish they had made a standard postion 5-spoke, liter bike

Reynolds68 12-13-2008 10:38 PM

I have a quote here that I thought was purely ...........
I'm actually at a loss for words!?

"To enjoy rider fashions, put on a zipper jacket with a motif of a rider's jacket on it and metallic material pants also with a motif of a rider's pants on it" (CE approved?) "A belt in metallic blue is a major accessory, which shows off at odd times around the waist while riding. If the overall image is too weak in white and too faint, heighten up the fashion, by introducing hard gloves with protectors or a black jacket." ( Yeah! The H3LL with safety!) "Put on bright white shoes to create that vivid feeling. Blue same color as on the bike can also be applied to the shoes."

The overall gayness of this paragraph taken directly from the "ad" page itself is such that I actually feel kinda strange typing it. Not to mention the blatant disregard for rider safety....other than the fact the chances of you getting hit by a car are very slim because of your "outfit" being just SOOO Fabulous! (shudders)

The sheer stupidity of this ad has boggled my mind. I actually feel dumber for having read it.

Woodytick 12-14-2008 02:58 AM

if you think this thing is garbage, you must not have seen that new POS that honda made. its gotta be the gayest thing made. its called the dn-1 or some crap like that. should have just wrote junk on the side of it.

(refering to the key words in the ad) AND THATS JUST THE PANTS!!, wait until you try the bike...

RK1 12-15-2008 12:42 AM

It's probably still a good bike. If you lived 12,000 miles away, If most of what you "knew" about America was from hollyweird and New Yawk media, you too would probably think all American men were fag drug addicts and all American women where whores.

Hotbrakes 12-15-2008 11:50 AM

Definitely a very Japanesque commercial. They are very colorful and use random words in English as so many of us use random words in Japanese for tattoos, bike graphics, etc.

Until I saw this I thought the bike was badass, like an affordable Superduke. Hopefully I will be able to erase the memory of this ad. This is a Streetfighter! Unfortunately aimed at the people who are pussies and don't want a Gixxxeerrrr, because their line of following has gone a different direction (stretched, lowered, and ruined).

Barch 12-15-2008 04:38 PM

For better or worse, Europe is the new target audience for bikes and cars. Even Honda has flat-out stated that it's now solely targeting Europe for it's r/d and marketing.
That being said, I can still see the Gladius crusing a rest stop on I-90 in hopes meeting an old Pacific Coast.

Tweety 12-15-2008 05:11 PM

Well... If they are targeting Europe with those adds, they are in for a dissapointment... That might work in Holland, Amsterdam... And probably in Copenhagen as well... The two centers of queer... But the rest of Europe will probably roll there eyes and do thier best to ignore that ad...

I know I will...:( That bike might be a good base for a rebuild... That's about it...

It's quite obviously an attempt to tap into the burgeoning beginner cycle movement. The ex-skooter crowd. They'll probably sell better than now.

Sulring 01-08-2009 05:59 PM

Honda 919

Similar story to the CB900/919, except we get no replacement with a abiguously gay scooter....
