http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/164-...000rr-not.html
says it's not photoshopped but who knows...supposedly honda has two at one of the dealer shows but it's all top secret. Wonder how close this picture is to the real thing. |
wow if thats real that is damn sexy...

I'm holding out for a 1000cc VFR that weighs about 520 lbs. wet, has a powerband like the Superhawk and makes 120-130 rwhp on top.
|
So I thought the announcement was to be made on the 7th? That was yesterday. What's the latest on this?

superbling;
All I get from the link is a picture with no specs, but it looks like same old same old. Seven years in a row without a real update and most dealers with new/leftover '06s on the showroom floor. Honda should get a clue. Maybe for '09. |
BNG: Bold New Graphics (or color in this case)
In case you need it in black & white: http://www.hondanews.com/categories/1097/releases/4169 :( |
I just can't wait to retro fit that tail to my hawk!

Well you forget that Motocross bikes sell as well or better than Street bikes. Honda has been a leader and still is the leader in MX technology. Especially the new Mini-MX bikes the first 4 stroke Mini racer CRF150R and the kick ass CRF450R and CRF250R, but they have lost their minds when it comes to the rest of the line up. Honda, where the heck is our V-Twin 1300 CC sport bike, or our Street Legal Streetard. I guess Cruiser and MX/Woods bikes are Honda's number one focus now. |
I was checking up on this today. I was surprised on one of the first Honda welcome screens to see a side ad for the new "Police ST1300". This is not new. This ST has been around for a while. I think Honda may be guilty of the same corporate strategy used by Microsoft. You announce something when you know the technology is viable. You issue it before it's fully tested amongst a flurry of marketing promotions - home run before the customer really figures out what he's got or NOT (in Microsoft's history).
This is how it's going to play out for us (I think). There is a new VFR coming, we just have some last minute bugs to work out so bear with us. It will be at least a 1100 and could be the 1300 based on this ad tease on the site today. I think Honda would be working very hard to make sure this isn't a stripped down 'Wing for the "young at heart." Let's hope they have the heartbeat of the living when they announce their next sportbike. |
They are going to have to compete with the new Concourse 14. That's one helluva bike and I'm dying to test ride one. I may end up trading in one of the bikes for it if it handles well enough. I'm not to keen on the idea of actually owning a bike with Kayaba forks though. They have good and bad points - Good: 25mm cartridge vice Showa 20mm, a few good design points; Bad: too many parts and too hard to service, generally too much internal spring preload.

Here's a picture from MCN of the 2008 CBR1000RR that was released to the press and then yanked. Not too attractive from this angle. IMO, of course. The stubby tail and the exhaust turn me off, although I'm sure the performance of the bike will overshadow opinions about its aesthetics.

This link was in the general discussion. I really don't think that they would go over a liter with the vfr. Why would they do that when they have the st1300???? |

Powersports.Honda.com has released photos and specs of the new 08 CBR 1000 RR.
Looks just like the MCN pics. |
I don't usually lust after liter class sportbikes.. but it sure looks nicer than other offerings IMO:

I hope the bike is typical Honda: reliable. |
Nose looks squashed......tail, hacked .......muffler (last pic), a nice foot warmer.........maybe a blue and white paint job ......OH YA !!!! A SUZUKI!!!!!!!!
|
here my thoughts.....at first glance i hated with a passion that ugly can...but the more i look at it it seems to be not too far off what i would like to put on the new cbr. but i would not have done. not the location but just the over all shape would look alot better if it was smaller or just a different shape...

Looks like a good bike to me after reading the review:

I think the new CBR is beautiful.
But I don't think the changes are as revolutionary as they are being touted to be. You can buy a used one, lighten it up and in the same place for less money. |
No bueno. IMHO 2008 is not Honda's year... just a bunch of crap... and the CBR1000 is uglier than ever (although it may not be as ugly as the new ZX10.)! It looks cheap... like a Chinese knock off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2009.
