What is the easiest front end swap?

Hi guys my next newb question.....

I've been reading about all kinds of front end swaps. I just took a look at a crashed vtr that has a bent fork leg.

I'd like to do a swap anyways so this maybe perfect.

After reading a few pages however I'm still a bit confused.

What's the easiest front end conversion? Is there a bolt on available? Maybe an older conventional front end from a CBR or something? Or any paticular upside down set I should be eye-balling?

Honestly I'd like the simplest solution. Don't want to have new stems made and such.

Thanks in advance!

One thing that is worrying me..... Do the honda upside down front ends (900,100, 929, 954, 51,...) have enough length to keep the geometry from being messed up?

Easiest one is a 96-97 CBR900RR. It is a direct bolt-on (same wheel, rotors, spacers,....). Do a search in the Knowledge Base, I posted a link which spells out exactly how to do it.

As Mikstr said the early conventional CBR900RR forks are the easiest.

From what I can recall:

As for the USD ones if you use the "gull wing" top triple and mount your clipons below that then the 929-954 forks are long enough, with a flat top they'd be short. RC51 forks are long enough with either type of triple (they are longer than the 929/954 ones).

CBR1000RR are slightly shorter than all of the others, and work with the "gullwing" top triples but still end up slightly lowering the front. (I think..) I could be wrong though..

I have a 954 front end on mine and to get the handling I want I had to raise them about 11mm above the gullwing top triple. (not enough for a clipon, but the forks are still pushed up in the triples that amount)

Thanks guys.... so I'm guessing the 900rr forks are bigger diameter? 43? 45? Uses the same 300 rotor though huh? Is there a brake upgrade tto go with the 900rr forks?

900RR forks are 45 mm and also have comp adn rebound damping adjustment

Here is your brake upgrade:
F4i/98-99 900RR/929/SP-1 calipers mated to a Nissin (19 mm) radial MC (mine came from a 2006 ZX-6R although various models also used it, inclusign numerous GSX-Rs). Steel lines, good pads and hang on!

Awesome info! Thank you!

BTW, in searching the KB all I found was a front end "white paper". I sthat what you were reffering to earlier?

musn't have searched too intensively:
