TL1000 Front End Swap

Just curious if anyone has tryed to do this. I've got a smoking deal on a complete front end from a 1999 TL. Any info would be great. It would be going on a 98. Also will a fuel tank from a 2001 fit a 1998?

fork length and tube size may be other issues.

search around here...

Don't forget that you will need internal valving adjustments to make those forks well. Just because they are different doesn't mean they are better!

Hi, i bought my bike with GSXR750 front, i think they are pretty same to the TL's.
The issues i have are:
-front is lower and the riding position is pretty different and painfull for me in the begining bu i get used to it.
- also some clearance issues with the MCs and the dashboard but it may be because of the custom front fairings and bracket
- bake runs fine, very stable at high speed
However i have no expirience with OEM forks so i cannot tell the differece.

i got mine with the OEM brake MC and it was no good with the 6 pots
i put 19mm radial NISSIN and now it stops like i want it

here it is

That looks really good. The bike I'm thinking of putting it on will be naked so I'm not worried about the clearance. I'm curious to know if they are similar the gsxr and the tl forks that is. The only two things I'm really worried about would be will my vtr front wheel work, cause I wouldn't want two different style wheels and the stem fit. I was planning to run dirtbike bars as well so that would solve the height issue.

The TL (IIRC) are 51mm forks. Galaxieman tried to use TLS forks with a CBR 929 triple and gave up, he ended up going GSXR forks instead (with custom spacers).

We have since discovered with GSXR forks you can use the suzuki triple if you get a custom made top bearing. (allballs can do this) This is a lot easier than custom wheel and rotor spacers. I don't know if this is true of a TL triple. If I were you I would call allballs and ask them.

There is a reason TL and TLS owners swap in GSXR forks... Just sayin...

Yeah Tweety I think you might have a point there. I think Im gonna hold off to find a 929 front end. I could make it work but how they will perform is uncertain and ive really got a lot of other projects on this bike already. save the front end swap till next year. Thanks for all your input everyone!
