I believe the TL ones are inverted forks, making them more desirable because they "perform better"

Well they are USD forks but they are made by KYB which are generally considered not as good as Showa.

The stock spring rate on the TL1000S is .740 kg/mm and on the TL1000R it's .934 kg/mm. How much do you weigh?

You might have wheel width vs fork spacing issues. (I did when I tried GSXR forks and gave up and got CBR954RR forks instead) They can be overcome.. but how much work are you looking to do?

You will need CBR929/954 triples and a TL1000 front wheel and brakes at a minimum too.

Well at your weight, either set of forks would be decent, with the R maybe a bit too strong.

You can't use the Suzuki triple tree, the ones that will fit the forks are the CBR929/954 and as I said before, it may not be a straight bolt up with some custom machining or spacing needed.

I did the 954 fork swap and am really impressed with the improvement. But this is the easy swap. I was going to do a GSXR swap, but most GSXR forks have the wrong spacing and that ended up being more work than it was worth. (I got the complete GSXR front end for super cheap, and ended up just selling it all again rather than try to make it work)

It really is up to you, and no one else.
