Suspension Swap

I ran across this add on craigslist for a Superhawk with a FZR fork and swingarm swap. I'm trying to get some more information about the swap and details needed for the rear swingarm swap. I've seen a few GSXR fork swap and the traditional Honda swaps, but never one like this.

Yamaha, like every other company, uses the same materials for one bike to another in order to cut down production costs. Perhaps you should try and cross reference the FZR forks with other production years of the R1/R6 for example.

Tweety provides a little info on this in post #13; https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...p-guide-23751/

This should give you a base line line to begin with.

I've got a set of 929RR forks on mine now, just had never seen the swap done before. Figured if I could get some info we could add it to the swap guide.

FZR forks? Do they mean YZF? Wasn't the last FZR a really long time ago? Like before the USD forks?

I think there is something amiss there.

Are you wanting to do an FZR fork swap? Based on this CL ad? Just wonder why?

There are CBR forks everywhere and they bolt right up.

I had an FZR1000 EXUP in 1992 with USD forks. Bought it new , was the first of the USD front ends.

Sort of a precursor to the R1, went like stink and handled well.

I lost my license for speeding on that bike.

I can't help thinking that a Honda front end would be easier to source and fit though, and there is plenty of info about that on here.

I would probably be happy with the 929 front, and it sounds like UCF is but just wanting to add to the list of options regarding front end swaps.

Oh, ok, all the ones I saw were non usd. Didn't realize the fzr ever had them. You learn something new.......

I've got a 929 front end already, but just thought it was interesting.

sky`s the limit on fork swaps. I have seen some using R1 forks, some using Aprila forks, other Gixxer parts, i am using ZX-10 forks (with CBR600RR triples and Daytona 675 calipers). Many/most can be made to fit with enough patience and machining skills....

As for the original pics, bike looks good :)
