Stainless brake line layout
Getting ready to buy a set of stainless lines - most likely HEL and now I have to decide between 2 line (full), 2 line over the wheel, or 3 line (OEM).
I just searched the threads and could not find a specific comparison of the three. I don't race. Bought a set of VFR clipons, so I need to do something. I would like a touch better brake feel and a touch of bling. Seems to me two lines and a long banjo bolt out of the MC might look a bit odd. 3 line or 2 line over the wheel would solve this. And 2 line is cheaper. So, does it matter? Is "over the wheel" visible? Why do some race regs ban this style (unless OEM)? I think this is what I am leaning towards. Comments? |
They all fit pretty much the same. It's the level of "bling" that makes a difference, and color options. If you're doing lines then you may as well invest the other $50 and get good pads while you're at it.

Over the wheel is a major PITA to bleed as bubbles usually hole up and hide at the highpoint above the wheel... Otherwise it's just bling...

In any case hadn't considered posibility of bubbles. I'll factor this in and let you know what I do. |
If you really want responsive brakes get a couple more boxes ordered with radial MC:)

i would suggest not installing EBC HH pads in the rear. they have a pretty quick initial bite... not really what you want.

+1. You'll probably be happier if you take the HH's back and put EBC Kevlar pads on the back.

Good choice to get s/s lines. Go with the two separate lines versus the OEM. I purchased HEL about a year and a half ago through the local shop out of Florida, but I believe they had a falling out and now you have to get them through the U.K.
Before you buy I can send you pictures of my setup to give you an idea of what it will look like. |
I also have Hels fitted. Good lines.
