SP2 Swing linkage geometry
I wonder if anyone who has done this swap has tried other geometries than Tweety's 78-61-60mm?
When I mock up this geometry I get very short wheel travel and a hard stop. For me it looks like 78-67-67 or similar will work better. I plan to have the geometry of stock set up drawn in CAD and compare with the SP2 swing set up to get a table, matching wheel travel with shock travel, unless someone has already done that? BTW what shock maximum travel should I calculate with for stock and a F4i shock? |
Seems to be a more unique swap than I thought?
Anyhow, I measured the stock shock travel to 40mm and F4 to 36mm. I am now riding with a 78-73-77 geometry. I have only done a short trip since the weather is not very appealing yet, but it feels like the character I was looking for. Bngt |

Some with stock SP1/SP2 arms, one with a custom welded shortened SP2 arm, and as far as I know, that's it... |
I need to test it more before I can recommend it but I have high expectations. It felt like such a natural thing to do.
Thank you for the inspiration. Bngt |
For what it's worth:
The stock RC51-SP2 rocker is 85-54-60 mm The Moriwaki RC51 rocker is 79-59-55.5 mm I do not know how the relationship between trailing link mounting point and swingarm pivot compares with the RC51 linkage. I made the measurements on the RC51 and posted them a while back: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=24322 |
Great job you have done there RCVTR!
I wish it were for SuperHawk. I intend to test a different measuring method, because I am lazy. I'll photograph the bike and then use the coordinates in the graphics program. The CAD software I am using can simulate the movement and provide leverage data. I have at the moment no plan to alter rake or trail. Bngt |
