Re: Rear Shock combatibility

The VTR shock is one of the longest around so most don't bolt in, thus requiring at least some sort of modification.

The search button is your friend.

Re: Rear Shock combatibility

Anyone know the actual length (eye to eye) of the VTR shock?
I know someone has a stock spare out there they can measure. There must be some stock Honda shock that fits the SHawk.
I have a HawkGT, and the most common mod is 900RR shocks modded to fit; they're a bit longer than stock, but the same as all the aftermarket models.

345mm!!!!!

Use this cool resource to find out others:

So far I've tried an R1, R6, Duc 900, and a penske CBR954. Except for the penske, the others were WAY undersprung. I used an aftermarket spring to get them in the ballpark but the valving was still a little too soft. They were also short enough that the piggyback reservoirs would clear the battery tbox and thus needed a modified upper mount to make up the difference in length.

Re: Rear Shock combatibility

Bling,
Are you currently running a CBR Penske?
I think I've got the front working (Gold valves & RT springs), but now the rear seems weak. It's REALLY sensitive to air pressures, also.
Stock tire is wearing badly, so maybe that's an issue also.
Thinking of new shock for Christmas, but which one?
