Question about adjusting front and rear suspension
Hey guys, I was hoping you guys could help me out. I have a 2001 shawk. I bought it a few months back, and put around 1500 miles on it so far. I think the suspension is setup as stock. I'm 6'5" and weigh 230. Just want some advise on how I should set up my suspension. I don't race or anything like that, but I like to ride pretty aggressive. Thanks for any and all input.

At 230, you will need to add some spring. My guess, with stock springing which is wrong for the weight, you will need to take the preloads in the front to almost all in, the rear to the 3rd to last detent (give or take) and then set your valving to the middle and adjust from there for what you want. Good luck, but for best results spend some $$$.

I have a suspension setup guide on my site. Check it out.

Thanks guys any advise on where to get some heavier springs.

You would need about 0.95kg/mm springs. Just adding heavier springs will make the front end very harsh over bumps as the standard compression damping will not match them. You really need the gold valves as well to complete the setup but it is worth every cent. And I am a big fan of fork braces. I use a Coerce type but there are others I believe (Superbrace?) |
