possible new part

since this forum is turning into a marketplace
how many people would be interested in my carbon plate mod?
i claim no gains,just loss....weight loss that is .

how much would you be willing to pay for this mod?

Hawkrider 05-14-2009 04:34 PM

The one for the carbs? Looks like you've got a couple in your other thread.

lazn 05-14-2009 04:35 PM

What plate are you speaking of?

BeerHunter 05-14-2009 04:50 PM

?

Carbon plate... weight loss... carbs.... sounds like some sort of Atkins diet to me.

Circuit_Burner 05-14-2009 04:57 PM

I think its a surgical procedure.:p

mikstr 05-14-2009 05:09 PM

depends on the weight loss and cost involved, for me anyhow...

JamieDaugherty 05-14-2009 06:37 PM

Carbon bits are trick, there will always be a market for stuff like that!

they replace the steel plates that hold the carbs together.
you can see them in my thread"modding madness"

mikstr 05-15-2009 05:44 AM

was looking for a feeler as to what people thought they were worth.
have to cover cost of materials and time.

they are very light not sure of exact weight, but there is a very noticeable difference.

mikstr 05-15-2009 06:26 AM

Can you weigh the OEM part? I am certain the carbon copy is very light. Knowing the weight of the steel version will give me an idea of what can be saved. Cost, of course, is the other factor for me (don't mean to go on repeating myself...)

i dont have a scale that can weigh something that light.

otherwise i would be in a different biz....lol!

L8RGYZ 05-15-2009 07:00 AM

Nah, not enough weight loss or visibility... let me know when you do the swingarm. Ha ha!

looks to be 150 plus shipping.

they are cut by hand one at a time from a pattern.

mikstr 05-15-2009 07:46 AM

thanks.

In a world of unlimited funds, I would buy some but for now, I'll use that money for some of those neat, "unproven" billet velocity stacks I have been reading about instead....

the billet stacks i have no doubt of gains.

those carbon ones?...ive seen his work no thanks!

mikstr 05-15-2009 08:18 AM

no carbon, we're going billet. It is obvious from the prints that the stacks are finely designed parts and only a CNC can be trusted to reproduce them accurately (as an added benefit, much cheaper too)
