should make fo interesting stuff (i hope the original owner isent pissing himself laughing  ) ..... im gonna do what i

You might want to start by clearing away that mess by the regulator\rectifier so it has a chance to get a little cooling air flowing over it........ ;)

There is ablue box where there should be a black one... and it comes with a serial interface... Wanna trade? I have the correct black box here...;)

Altough I'm not sure what the round thing with three zip-ties on it is supposed to be...

Fozzy Bear Jun 20, 2009 04:21 PM

Small electric fuel pump?

A couple of custom and unknown parts....... and a piss poor job of installation, that we hope you fix

superhawk205 Jun 20, 2009 05:20 PM

I'm sure it will get even better when you get to the engine, there may be zip tie where the rod bolts were!!!!

finepooch Jun 20, 2009 05:42 PM

love the four zip ties all linked together across the blue box!!!

if mickey mouse gets 'er done, great!

Gregw Jun 20, 2009 05:53 PM

I'm gonna say the bike has fuel injection.

I would hope those are not fuel lines laying right on the R\R.......

autoteach Jun 20, 2009 07:59 PM

No no no, it works out great. The fuel acts as a liquid cooling system for the RR, its a great system!

ha :p , i didnt put it together just showing a look ..

i believe the bike may have seen compition at sometime , yes its running a fuel pump , and the blue box is some sort of aftermaket programmable ignition system (i fear electronics and if they had any sense they would fear me back ) it came with discs for setting it up , but unless it breaks itll be left well alone id say , ...

just started to tear it down yesterday for a naked style build (its already a naked but needs a little refeshing )
just a bit of show and tell for you guys thats all ...

will keep you posted :evillaugh:

Looks like a low pressure fuel pump, similar to that used on the old VFR750. The VTR can suffer from fuel starvation when ridden hard, especially on the track. A fuel pump is a known fix.

And as you say, you have an aftermarket ECU to control the ignition. What brand is it?

I've never had any problem with fuel starvation at the track. If there is one then you have another problem, like float height or a petcock problem.

+1

Fozzy Bear Jun 22, 2009 09:01 PM

I would imagine this problem would arise with long hard braking, downhill with very little fuel in the tank but really the fuel pump seems like a bit of a wank that the previous owner fitted to look cool.

Maybe he did LOTS of stoppies and the bike was cutting out?

Maybe the theory is, he deliberately passed the fuel lines over the R/R to warm the fuel so it would vaporise more easily.

Maybe...umm, no, I'm out of maybes.

(For more silly theories about bikes, life, the universe and everything, please contact the author. I've got hundreds of em! :D)

This info is from Revolution Racing in the UK, and as far as I know mainly relates to modified engines. The common mod is CBR600 or VFR750 pumps. The right pressure and same fuel line size as well.
