Ontario Moto Tech triple clamps

I just got my new (to me) OMT triples. Designed to fit the earlier (pre-1998) CBR900RRs, they are machined out of billet aluminum, have an aluminum stem and nut, double pinch bolts at teh bottom, and have different ofset (believe it is 30 mm instead of the 35 mm of the stock units; they were said to greatly enhance the stability of the bike, a change in geometry Honda adopted on the 98 model). These should help me drop 1-2 lbs compared to the ones I am running now (steel stem and lower clamp), and the added trail will improve stability. While perhaps not up to USD standards, my well calibrated CBR900RR forks will surely get the job done :)

Here is a pic (not mine as I just got them) of what they look like.

Do they have a web site???

No, apparently they are no longer in business. They were Kaz Yoshima`s outfit. Apparently he made quite a name for himself years ago modding and campaigning earlier SOHC and DOHC Hondas. The triples I picked up come highly recommended for the CBR900RR, especially for bikes destined for track use.

As for me, the price was right and the weight loss will be appreciated (added trail, and of course bling, will be nice too).

Well, got the new triples on today (along with some maintenance/upgrades to the forks: replacement of complete right leg, new stanchion tube for left, new bushings and seals all around, heavier oil with larger air gap, the latter to address some slight wheel hop I had when braking hard with the PVM wheel on, hopefully the firmer high-speed compression damping effect will eliminate this tendency). I had them anodized red (partly aesthetics, partly for durability) prior to having them put on. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain for the ride home (from dealer) so I can't really say much about how they affect handling (or the forks upgrades for that matter). I am hoping for some decent weather in the coming days...

I didn't weigh the new triples (my small digital scale only goies to 600 g) but, having picked up the old triples (96 CBR900RR steel lower clamp and stem with 94 aluminum cast upper), I can say that (from my recollection) that it was significantly more than the all-aluminum new ones do.

Now, if I can only get the guy fixing my PVMs to get going so I can lace those back on I'll be in business..... (yes, pics will follow)
