New tires for the VTR! Dunlop D616

2 Attachment(s)
I decided to try out a different type of tire. Instead of the standard sportbike tires I went with the heavy treaded D616 by Dunlop.

I needed something to grip well when kicking ass in the twisties and then warm up fast and bite hard when it is rainy or heavy fog conditions during my commute.

Designed for the v-twin, I am hoping these tires do the trick! More to follow...

Those are cool tires. I almost got them for my last set but couldnt find any feedback. My concern were that they look just like my racing rain tires which grip great but have a wallowing feeling due to the big blocks.

I ride year round & figured they would be good in rain & occasional snow. I went with the bridgestone 021 since bike magazine had a photo of a guy dragging knee through a puddle in the rain on them.

Let me know how you like them.

I bought this set of Dunlops from Selztoad .Thought I'd give feedback on these Dunlop D616 tires.. There okay tires- have good feel, and rode the tires in the a cold rain(38 degrees) The tires stuck in the curvies, Pushing the tires hard enough to get some slide, and a little less throttle and would hook back-up..
If you read the articles- The tires do seem squishy in the dry conditions (strange)
Yet for a $150.00 a set..
Can't give you an idea on mileage.. After 900 miles in two days- the tires showed normal wear(similar to Z6 metzeler)

My brother has 616's on his FZ1, he's not crazy about them, feels like they have a "squirm". He's not a very aggressive rider but likes to ride in the curves.

I have Bridgestone BT021's and I like them pretty well. They're a little heavy so once up to 60+ the bikes picks up "stability". My Metzler M3's helped the bike feel lighter at higher speeds but the Bridgestones feel much more neutral and confident at various lean angles. They're wearing pretty well too but not as well as I expected considering how they're marketed (high mileage sport-tour).

I prefer the Michelin Pilot road 3 .I have had hem since i bought the bike handle extremely well dry or wet. I can use the whole back tire and still feel secure

I have about a thousand miles on them. Still love them! Sticks well. The edges are starting to wear faster then the center. The reason is obvious. I hope they last 4k.
