need info on ex cam swap
 

ive had a search regarding this but to no avail .
i want to swap my in-let cams for exhaust cams.
i know this has been done on here before but i cant find the information .
can anyone help please

I know what you're talking about but can't find much either. I don't ever recall much useful information anyway (like dyno numbers, or details on what the lift, timing differences were). I'm betting you'd be better off by timing your cams. You can simply slot the mounting holes with a dremel a bit and then time them to whatever is that hot setup for the bike - I have forgotten but the info is on this site as recommended by expert tuners. I think it would be more purposeful then hoping in/ex swap hits it right.
its cheap and you can learn a fair amount about the bike. If its due for valves its an easy time to do it.

I don't think there was ever a post on "How To", the member that did it has it in his build list.

You would need slotted cam sprockets and as I recall his intakes were at 101 degrees for the lobe centers and 106 degrees for the exhaust.

I raised the matter with Roger D and was told it`s not really worth it. From what he said and what I found regarding the lift difference between the two cams (duration is the same) we are talking about 0.1mm additional lift.....

Yes it is. There are surely places in the UK that can do it.

Seems I heard for some reason you couldn't just grind the stock cams in that you can't just remove material from the base circle but you had to weld the whole lobe and regrind it. Is that the case? I would think as long as you didn't take to much matieral off so that there were still shims large enough to adjust the clearance you'd be fine. Is there something I'm missing?

Well... You want more lift... So you need to ADD material... Hence the welding... Grinding off stuff reduces lift...
