Should complement my other rotating weight savings (carbon rims, Hyperplate clutch plates, removed silencer gear, Carrillo rods, JE pistons, lightened and balanced crank, 520 chain and Al rear sprocket,...) :)

I was open to that (came around, lol) but perhaps did not communicate it well. Anyhow, I am sure this version will be the cat's meow :)
P.S. considering the HRC 1/6-turn throttle, engine mods and lightweight treatment, flipping over is a distinct possibility, lol |
Whoa! 4 lb. 12oz.!? How are...hmm...how'd you do that? At the time you reduced mine to 5 lb. 5.5oz. and I thought that was about the extent of how much you felt safe removing? But, that was over three years ago. I'll have to look at your flywheel thread to see how you removed more material.

For the guy who has everything somewhere I have a Sato titanium kickstand off an RC51 I adapted to fit the Superhawk years ago.

easy now, lol..... the Sato would be nice for sure; however, all is not lost as I am currently running an adjustable aftermarket aluminum stand from a 2004 CBR1000RR (significantly lighter than stock)....

My normal cut is 4lb 4~5oz finishing weight. And they have been spinning for many miles now, no failures or issues at all. I have a 4lb 4.12 oz one on my SH, many thousands of miles and Im not afraid of the rev limiter.... So I always want to ask how much control or rideability do you lose doing this mod? Is it skittish? Jumpy? Being a daily rider I would love the spin up but not at the expense of safety in traffic.

Joe, you can think of it as even bigger sprocket on the rear wheel, without the expense of the ratio, just faster acceleration and better engine braking as less inertia stays with the flywheel.

There is no new stall issues, no jerkiness , I know its just words, but I really believe there is No downside, no negatives from this MOD. You will read opinions of some that claim it will cause this and that issue...but then ask them if they have ridden a SH with a 4lb flywheel and they will say NO.... But ya I did this to my xyz and it stalled at every light, ruined the low end, blah blah blah. I have not had a single user remove the lightened flywheel and mane are just like you..... daily riders ...traffic, parking lots, freeway, surface streets and stop and go bumper to bumper....the lightened flywheel is just not an issue for this stuff. |

that thing is gona spin up like a 2 stoke lol....
after watching what Erik has cut down to my own is now at 4.5 lbs and its clean mad on pickup....as far as i can see/feel there is no drawbacks with this mod....some have said its a little jerky?? ah just ride the bloody thing or buy a smaller bike lol |

after watching what Erik has cut down to my own is now at 4.5 lbs and its clean mad on pickup....as far as i can see/feel there is no drawbacks with this mod....some have said its a little jerky?? ah just ride the bloody thing or buy a smaller bike lol - rods, pistons, pins: 0.5 lb (as the crank has been balanced, I would expect a similar amount to have been removed) - quieting gear removed: 0.4 lb - Hyperplate clutch plates: @ 1.2 lb (weighed the steels and calculated that Al is approx. 60% lighter) so, looking at about 2.6 lbs down already (plus this 2.6 lbs, for a total of over 5 lbs).... now add about 20 lbs for rims, rotors,... and you're talking serious spinning weight..... two-stroke indeed, muahahahahahahaha |
