move the battery

Hi guys !

Somebody does he moved the battery to lower the centre of gravity ?
Do you have some pics ?

Thx !

Actually, the battery is positioned practically right in the bike's center of mass. I know some RC51 guys relocate their batteries but I don't know where it is mounted on their bikes. I went with a lighter battery YT12A-B which saved about 2 lb if that helps at all.

you will gain more of an advantage by losing 5lbs by going to the gym than you will from that mod. plus you are opening yourself up for undue corrosion on the battery. i cannot think of a worse place on our bikes for a battery. Seriously it is right under the rider in the center of the bike. it doesn't get much better than that. like i said, skip the dessert and it is like the battery is not even there.

Another thing to note... That's a 600... An inline 4... A twin with two great big cylinders is a bit more mass to convince into motion while starting... It might seem trivial bit 7 vs 10ah but belive me it's not...

Galaxieman 12-16-2008 11:09 AM

Moving the battery somewhere else would help for an undertail exhaust setup though, were one so inclined...

rbrais 12-18-2008 12:53 PM

Yea, but that's a scary place for a battery. Hard to secure, easy to whack with a curb or something and would need one hell of a strong mount if you do any wheelies. There would be a lot of g-forces in front of the engine when you set it down...plus it will always get wet. Oh, and it is right against the engine and header.....

If you are looking to relocate it simply to help the center of gravity, it's a poor idea. If you are trying to relocate it for some sort of a mod...find a better place.
