Mikuni Flatside carbs

A member on the UK site has come up with the interesting idea of replacing the carbs with Mikuni flatsides, any thoughts on this ?
Apparently it will give about a 10% increase in power and obviously enable fitment of a larger ( vfr ?) tank.
