longer side stand

I needed a longer side stand after installing an Ohlins shock with a bit more length.

After looking around the garage I found the 98 vfr800 stand was almost the same. It is an inch or so longer, but has more bend as well. End result is about 3/4 of an inch measured at the frame slider. Feels much better. Cost = $20 on fleece bay.

Well done...
I was just about to machine up a new longer one for mine.... AS that's a nice factory option you found.... I'll do that ...

Is that a GS500 in the corner??

I've owned 2 of them, and I still believe it's the most underestimated bike for having fun in tight corners!! It's an absolute hoot in the twisties and will shame much larger bikes!

How is it catching that short little nub attatched to the side stand, as opposed to the one on the stocker? Pose any issues for having to search for the side stand?

Certain year CBR1000rr's work for this as well. And they're tubular steel rather than cast so they're lighter.

CBR 1100 Blackbird or X-11 naked Blackbird stands fit too.

Yep, it is harder to get to, but not bad. It also looks better when up :)

I am sure many Honda side stands work, but I only had the vfr800, vfr750, and Hawk GT to compare. Of those only the 98-01 vfr works.

If anyone has length on others that work post them up.

Hawk GT, slightly modded ;)

I went with the 04-05 cbr 1000 tubular side stand due to DMr F4i + 3mm spacer and it works fantastic. I did weld on a longer tang and rubber cover for easier reach with toe but not a big deal.

That's a sweet Hawk. I had a stock one and was considering sinking some $$ into it and decided to sell and get an SH instead since it was closer to what I wanted the Hawk to be. Still miss it sometimes (mostly the center stand and mileage).
