JD's Modified F4i Rear Shock
 

Well I finally got the sag setup on the bike with the new rear shock from Jamie and it is plush. Yesterday, no rain, so I put a little plus 200 miles on the bike over a variety of road surfaces. On smooth roads it is flawless, on road that have been worked on or a rougher surface the shock seems to be a tad bit bouncy. I am still searching for the right balance in the damping and compression adjustments.

The previous weekend Hotbrakes and myself rode out to West Va. a 350 mile round trip and even with the sag not right, I was not beat up after the ride like I would have been if I were riding with the stock shock.

For those that are considering making the upgrade and have already modified the forks, this is an inexpensive way to get next step in performance from the Superhawk.

Finally got around to installing the modified F4I shock I bought from Jamie. So much better than stock over harsh roads. Wish I had done it earlier.

and I also had an F4I shock rebuilt by the infamous JD enterprises. He did the whole enchilada incl 6mm over stock, a Race Tech G3 valve, and the 175lb spring. I love the feel of the rear now. The rear seems to be a little taller now albeit i had a 6mm shim on the OEM shock, probably the result of the new spring. Not too much of a problem yet, but I'm going to get a 190x55 Michelin Power One street/race when I wear out the present BTO-16 190x55; and it's supposed to have a taller profile, so I could be sliding off one side to hold the bike up at stops. The dam bike keeps growing taller and i'm going the other way, ah oh!

I had the 5mm shim before the new JD rear shock and found that I did not need it after installation. The new shock is at least 5mm taller than the OEM shock.
