I've searched..........

Has anyone done an f4i wheel swap? Front and/or rear? All I can find searching is cbr and gsxr stuff. Alot of "It's not a direct swap" but nothing else. With the lighter weight of the f4i wheel and the same look (one of my favorite things about a hawk are the 3 spoke wheel) I figured someone would have done this swap. I also wouldn't think it's that big of a deal if it's not direct. Spacers, maybe some extensions for the calipers (bigger rotors on the f4i)? Would like to use the lighter wheels on my track bike project and any info that would cut time and money spent would be appreciated. And again I did use search function lol.;)

Based on what I know so far from having researched the matter for a 600RR wheel swap (which brought up a lot of F4 info), I am led to believe that the F4 wheels are a direct swap. Note that the F4 uses different front rotors, however (same diameter but different bolt pattern)....

Thanks. I kinda thought so but I thought the f4i had the 310 mm brake rotors like the rr.

I thought so too, but I checked the motorcycle specs site and it lists them as 296mm. You may want to double-check, however (I have a sneaking suspicion the spec site got it wrong, as seems to often be the case). Should that be the case, you only need to replace the fork lowers with those from a 98-99 900RR (perhaps those from the pre-USD 600RR would fit too, depending on the axle size) as that version also came with 310mm rotors.....

Thanks Dude! I'm gonna have to buy my buddies Hawk now so I fit in around here.

I just noticed I made an error in what I wrote (brain fart; confused due to another post in which the author was wondering about a 900RR front end...). The 900RR and 600RR fork lowers would fit onto 45mm stanchion tubes, not the 41mm ones used on stock VTR forks.... sorry for the confusion....... That being said, it is possible to get some adapters made that would allow you to re-position the calipers so as to be able to use 310mm rotors ( I had used some similar brackets when I ran EBC 320mm rotors)

again, sorry for the mess up......

Thats cool. Wasn't planning on that. The extenders for bigger rotors however......Been there before.
