So this is pretty much the prescribed method for clamping metal to be cut right? Proper use of tools?

What tool did you use to cut it? Metal grinder duct-taped to a support 2x4?

No, I think he held that in place with his hands (gloved of course. Safety is #1) while his Grandma wielded an ax above his head, taking swings wildly. She has great aim I hear, what with cataracts in both eyes and all.

Used a jigsaw. Had to take breaks to cool the washer under water since it turned out to need some thumb pressure to stay put. But rear ride hight here I come...

Vice Grips and a hacksaw worked wonders for me when I carried out that same task a few years ago now.....

Nice fabbing skills, I'm assuming you then deburred it on the concrete stoop outside.

Like we all haven't done stuff like this......
