I've had mine wrapped for two years now and just re-did them last week as I had the exhaust off to do my 2-1 conversion. After two years of operation the pipe was still in fine shape.

The main reason for doing mine was to keep the pipe cooler as it runs right under the sump and radiates heat to the engine. An additional benefit is that a warm pipe has better scavenging so it can only help performance.

I have had it on my sportster for about 6 years. Different pipes, but I always wrapped them. No problems.

The only problem I have seen when you wrap headers is if you have a carbon fiber can it can dis color the can because of the extra heat that the exhaust now carries.

I wrapped mine mainly to protect my lower from getting toasted and it has worked for that. I run TBR high mounts/header and have not disabled the PAIR yet and get no popping on deceleration. Sound is improved with a deeper but not as loud growl.

mine need to be re-wrapped, had a lower on mine and the exhaust rubbed against at the bend of the bend of the front header causing my wrap to basically powder up right there and then it burned a hole in my fairing. so im going to re-wrap and cut a hole in the fairing at that bend to nothing crazy happens haha.
