Front Sprocket
Ours is the same as? 929 correct?
Finally gonna go 2 down in the front. I'd prefer Vortex or Sunstar, but Parts411.com doesn't list those choices for our bike. TIA |
Vortex makes them I have one on my bike, can't remember the # if you can wait until tomorrow I can get it for you.
|
I think I found it on yet another site. I'm in no hurry, if you can grab the number.
|
No problem I'll check the vortex book for you tomorrow then.
|
Actually the front sprocket is the same on the CBR1000RR and the Superhawk...:)
|
2 down in the front! wow.

-1 was a bit change for my hawk. -2, wow!!!
|
never heared someone running a 14 front, this might cause the chain running very tight and possibly destroying the rubber guard on the swingarm, but not 100% sure as noone i know has tried that yet.....
|
That was a typo! Down 1 in the front.
Is there a strength difference between steel and Chromoly steel? Found a Chromoly steel for $21.95 |
Sorry never got on the computer yesterday, the vortex part # is 3523-15 and is the same front sprocket for the 1000rr, rc51, 929/954, 919 and the 90-97 vfr750. Hope that helps you out.

95 900rr runs same front and rear for stock gearing as well
|
I bought one. $22 plus shipping.
Put it on Friday. All I can say is "WOW". The bike pulls HARD all the way to red. On the interstate, I thought it was very comfortable around 80, pulls hard since your right around 5000 RPM. Very happy. Now I understand why everyone who has made this change raves about it. |
Nice!
I dropped a toof on my former Gix 750, wow, what a difference down low, and midrange...! |
does this mod affect the gas/mileage any?
|
Evil, it's hard to tell, since it changes the speedo/Odo.
Gas mileage, obviously, always depends on the wrist. If I ride nice, and keep my wrist up, it's better, if I ride like I should on the Hawk with the wrist down, it's not so nice. I can't give you a definitive answer on this. |
It will effect it some because it will put you in a higher RPM when cruising around but it is very minimal.

If you go for a highway ride but don't use 6th gear, this is pretty much what your bike will feel like with a smaller front sprocket. |
hey fozzy thanks for the great analogy! Im thinking pretty seriously about making that change to the front sprocket. Is a noticeable enough of a change to just go down one toothe in the front or should i work with the back too?
plus on a side note. somebody please tell met the difference between a firestorm and my SH! cus im getting jelous of that beasty named copy off! :) actually im just feeling a little ignorant and im pretty sure that there is a really simple answer to my question. |
Evil, the Superhawk and Firestorm are the same bike, but in Europe its called Firestorm

Another thing I noticed is that rear tyre wear increases due to the harder acceleration. (and they are called firestorms in Oz too) |
wow..i kinda feel like a jackass now....owell gotta learn somehow right?
