Front Brake Master Cylinder Revisited

Does anyone know if the RC51 front brake master cylinder is an upgrade for the VTR 1000 or is it basically the same?

I am installing the 6 pot GSXR calipers with braided lines and have found a few RC51 master cylinders but none of the 929 or 954 master cylinders that have been referenced as the mod to do on this forum.

I got a reservoir and cylinder from the GSXR calipers but their is a crack in the bottom of master cylinder from a lay over (I knew this when I bought it). There are several rc51's out there though.

I tried the search without any direct answer.

if you're just worried about the resivoir leaking, you can patch it up with some plastic weld epoxy stuff. I wish I could help ya more, but I'd reccommend sticking on whatever m/c was intended for the calipers (the gsxr)

The GSXR reservoir is good, the lever and the bottom of the actual master cylinder actuatator is cracked. I think I will try the stock unit first and then wait out a 929 / 954 assembly if the VTR is not up to working right.

If looking for 929 or 954 master cylinders, check dynomohumm.com. They are in Canada and offer pretty good prices on OEM honda stuff. On the Superhawk page it even has these two master cylinders listed.

929: $199 (CAD) = $167 US
954: $182 (CAD) = $153 US

Damn the current exchange rate isn't making this as cheap of an option as it once was!!!

re: exchange rate

While it may not be favourable to our friends to the South, it sure is a welcome development for Canadians as we no longer have to morgage our souls to buy anything from the US :)

Last time I was home to visit....30% or better of the cars in the parking lot at Walmart in Massena NY had Ontario plates. At the reservation....about the same. Stocking up on cheap smokes I think.
