EDURANCE 24LTR FUEL TANK
HI ALL
I have an idea to have made some 24ltr fuel tanks , the benefit of this is the obvious extra range provided . I have a HARRIS fuel tank on my bike and its good for 150 miles between stops . The idea is to have a 6mm stainless steel cell made and encase it in a 2 piece bonded carbon fibre shell . It would be an exploded version of a standard tank , ie : it would look intrinsically like the standard one just larger ! . I`m still in the early stages of doing this and am looking for feedback and a show of hands if anyone is interested in purchasing one . The stainless cell will be pressure tested and the fuel tap will be retained in the standard position . As I said earlier , I have a Harris tank on my road bike , I run a Fireblade front end on it but I also used the tank on my standard bike and had no issues with clearance on either bike . |
Hey Yeti, sounds interesting...any projection on cost?
Around town I'm getting approx 150 km from 14L usable tank volume (sucks but sure is fun)! Highway performance is somewhat better but nothing to brag about. It would be nice to have longer "legs" as Canada is kinda big and open in spots |
I`m going to get one made and
look at costs , I`m also looking into replicating my ram air kit . |
How much do you want for your Harris Tank? LOL
|
The Ram Air kit is of interest although the bigger tank isn't.
Cost would be the major factor for me. Do any of your bikes have the thermo housing modified or repositioned? |

A standard size (16 L) or (preferably) a copy of the post-2001 tank sold outside NA (ie. 19 L) in carbon (and lighter than stock) would be of possible interest to me..... am not interested in a "bulbous" 24L version, however........
|
Could not state interest without knowing price in advance.
|
I want standard 16l size but with ram air please.
Can I have fries with that? |
YETI, can you provide some pictures of the process and the end result with and without the Ram air? Obviously cost, maybe interested.
|
I'm interested, but price will determine my need.

First Gen VFR800 Fuel Tank. 5.5 gallons, or thereabouts.
Not quite a bolt on, but your cheapest option. see post 51 for details here: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...tr-7221/page5/ |
