Dyno runs
Ok, I just ran dyno on my Chicken. 100.64 horses and 66.88 torque on a 5th gear roll-on. This dyno is used to tune some pretty serious racers in this area so it's no bullshit. Anybody got any comparison?

About 2 years ago I got (in round numbers) a 104 hp and 66 torque reading from the dyno at the repair shop I go to.
Since then I've added Scorpion high-mounts and raised the front of the gas tank (for better air flow?). Haven't checked to see if this changed the #'s any. |

1/4 mile dyno run numbers are pretty fudged up. 5th gear roll on is the best way to get the most accurate numbers. My 'all-gear' run gave me 68 torque and 104 horses.

Here is the before and after runs while tuning my Moriwaki Stage 2 and a bit. Randy says when the bike was fresh it was closer to 140HP on race gas.

Oh not really... ;) Just an arm, a leg and about 3 new VTR's worth in parts... :rotf: Or perhaps 4 ?!
A STG 2 engine is (almost) cheating... ;) I only barely make 120 with my STG 1... But I have the parts for a STG 2 build... |

Every so often I see mention of some hot rod part for the SuperHawk and I think, why don't I have one of those? I don't have an HRC Rev box, or cool velocity stacks, or a fancy aftermarket air filter. Maybe I need that, then I think some more and realize 2 things. One, I really don't need more power on this bike and Two, this bike was built by a master, I can't improve on that with bolt-ons. |
I'm not hating at all. You have the highest hp number so you are the "winner, winner, chicken dinner". That's a crazy high # for the SH. I'm in aw:

Yes, the air to fuel was all over the place. But the bike ran great before and after and the more we tried to get the A/F nice and smooth the more power we lost. Some might say this is an example of how real world "feel" goes against what the Dyno shows us.
Either way it's fast as heck and I'm Super Happy. |
its true and I agree with the feel vs simply testing. and you will get more power the closer to ideal A/F, and even a bit more when lean. The problem comes if its too lean - and the AF readout should be good to tell you that. you might not get much clues while riding or on dyno and with the ignition advance even more so. Would at least do a couple plug checks to see if evidence of overlean. again, real world testing.

Looks like my readings are pretty much on par, except for the cheaters with their STG1&2 : )

Clearly there's something wrong with your bike, SCCM.
You should buy mine. I'll deliver it to Hooters next week. |
