2003 VTR1000F Super Hawk
Only mod: - LeoVince SBK Evo II Dual Alum Slip Ons Stock jetting (and everything else)... Another guy with an '03 and Jardines + jet kit got about 5 more HP & Torque on the same dyno on the same day |
torque "curves" don`t come much flatter than that! congrats

hard to read the numbers. what was max torque?

Peak HP shown as 96.42 HP (with 57.2 ft lbs) at 8.850 RPM I was a bit surprised by how flat the torque curve appeared, especially with a stock bike modified only with LeoVince slip-on mufflers. |
The hawk has a great engine. It suprises a lot of people. That torque curve is why it is so fun to ride compared to a 4 banger.
|
Actually, there are a good number of multis that have flat torque curves. Ever seen the one from a Speed Triple? Tuning, not cylinder configuration (or grouping), determines the power distribution.....
|
Actually....and I may be incorrect in this....but I believe torque values have more to do with valve size, cams, and stroke, don't they?
|
All of the above, plus cam timing, port shape, ignition timing curve, fueling,....
Many, many variables interacting together. The only effect that cylinder configuration can have is in terms of its effect on scavenging, for example (hence the multitide of balance chambers and the like one finds on exhaust systems, for example).... To automatically assume a V engine is "torquier" (in the true sense of the word, as in actual torque product, not seat-of-the-pants feeeling) than an inline is ill-founded nonsense..... |
