Dyno result of "Burnie Morgan" airbox mod?

Has anyone done a before and after dyno run to see what the result is of the Burnie Morgan mod (link posted in the KB section - essentially involves removing the air dam in the airbox and cutting back the ridge on the filter)?

Markus?

thanks in advance

Not on dyno, but before and after there was practically no difference in high revs, and slight improvement in smoothness in low revs. And there was no need to do anything with jetting.

That is pretty well what I had found when I tried it a few years back. However, I have come to realize that the seat-of-the-pants (mine anyhow) is not the most reliable dyno in the world.....

I agree, it wasn´t exact reply to your question, dyno or AFR measurement tells it better.

I think the only one who may be able to provide an answer is Markus (aka Tweety).... you become well informed on these kinds of things when you have your own dyno (and, of course, an inquisitive mind) :)

Well, the dyno says it doesn't matter one darned bit in terms of power... It does smooth out the bottom a bit, but i could measure no improvment, and no measurable loss in the top end...

I have friend with lambda and he can measure AFR (and did some work on my carbs) but to be honest I wouldn´t have do it in this case as I had feeling I rode completely the same bike :-) But there can be diference whether you do it on oem bike (my case before, richer AFR), or properly jetted bike with cans or some other changes.

Anyway This topic is interesting for me as I consider go back to paper filter from BMC, I have some doubts about filtration and low revs could be smoother. Theoretically there can be some loss of peak power and if this mod works, it could offset it, will see :-)
