Curious....how many dealer shop hours to install manual cct's on a 98 SH?
 

Just recently bought a 98' SH with 30K miles.

After reading all the warnings on converting it to mcct's....I am planning to take it to the dealer here in Honolulu.
Just wondering how many hours are involved to do the install.

I don't have the space or skills to attempt the job!😎

I did it myself and I'm no mechanic. Requires the same level of access as doing a valve adjustment, so I would have guessed 2-3 hours.

It depends on if the shop plans to remove the front cover to ensure against chain skip and to check proper timing chain tension.
Or if they plan to do the front like most of us do. Which is the "finger tight" method.

Well...$400 is better than a full top end rebuild, correct!!!

It really is pretty easy if you follow the instructions posted online in various places. But $400 isn't too bad I guess. Especially if it saves an engine, yes.
But the way I look at it, nobody cares more about my bike than I do, so I like to do the work on it.

If you do it yourself, I recommend not going the quick route. Remove everything and actually take off the rear as well as the front valve covers.
Actually be able to visually inspect that you ARE on T.D.C.

....and you can check proper play, or slack in the timing chain.
