CBR600RR Swingarm
 

Hello,
In 2006 I decided to give my VTR a good clean, clutch replacement and carb tune. So I dissassembled it.
Not long after that I bought a house needing extensive renovation, and now, 11 years later, the bike is still in pieces and the house still not completely finished. What can I say: life got in the way...
I promised my wife several times to sell the motorcycle stuff, but I couldn't get to it.
I'm about to put it back together, and I'm looking at my options to make it a little bit more special.
I searched for this, but couldn't find anything:

Does anyone know if a CBR600RR could be made to fit a Superhawk?
I found the pivot width's from several other swingarms, but not from this one.
Any help or measurements would be welcome.

I don't know the answer to your question but curious why you want that swingarm on your bike?

I'd like to have a stiffer swingarm.
Existing options are:
- bracing a stock swingarm with a the brace from a fireblade
- SP1/SP2
- CBR 929/954
- others?

Why I'd like the CBR600RR swingarm:
- With the CBR600RR, the top of shock is mounted to the swingarm. This does away with the hassle of finding a correct length shock. I'd only need to focus on the link system.
- Can be found really cheap
- I'm hoping I can re-use my stock rear wheel

900RR brace on stock SH swing arm. Has been done a bunch of times. SP2 is the best route for weight/strength. Some fooling with the shock linkage. Other option is a VFR SSSA. That option is mostly cosmetic.
Anything can be done with enough time and money. Some things are just not worth the effort.

I'm aware of the other options. I was just hoping someone had more info on this conversion.
I've seen them used on other bikes (VFR, Interceptors) so I thought these would suit a SH as well, considering it also has a gap between pivots for the motor.

I have a swinger from a 600 (to be fair, I don't know what model/year, think it's an F4i) laying on my garage floor. It doesn't look to be an upgrade over the SH stock arm. Maybe better, thicker, more special aluminum was used in the design?? The fact that the pivot point to the axle center line is longer by over an inch would make it possibly more flexible. Also what that would do to the overall frame geometry is an unknown for me. The space between the pivot points is almost an inch narrower on the 600 arm. (I can get the exact measurements if you want) Not sure how that would work. Can't grind the cases, right?
Why and how are VFR owners removing the SSSA and installing a 600 arm? Doesn't make sense to me.

It's the model after yours. In fact, people replace that swingarm (which resembles the one of the VTR) by the later model also. And I've also found Hornet conversions.
The VFR I saw was an early model, with regular swingarm.

Yes, that's the one.
Since you have a F4i swingarm there, could you measure the inside width between pivots? I'm pretty sure it's the same as the CBR600RR.
For the Superhawk this width is 165mm.

From memory the 600 arm is 149.2mm between pivots. I will double check later today, as that was a rough measure.

With inside spacer on the right side pressed all the way to the right, I measured 151.6mm.

That would mean I have to shave off about 6 to 7mm from each inside pivot face.
Seems possible. So I'll try it, I guess.
Other thing to consider is wheel axle diameter. Either I get the matching CBR wheel, or I replace bearings in my old wheel.
