Calipers for the superhawk...

Anyone know which or any of these will fit the stock forks, in otherwords bolt right up, or small amount of grinding????

1998-up zx9

rc51 what years?

99 TLS??

TLR ??

any others that will work....and what combination, ie with the stock M/C and cables...or with a diff M/C or cables....

I a looking at the RC51 00-01 with M/C to add....will my ss lines work, I think it will, I just need someone smarter than me to tell me they will...

TIA to all

No
All
NO
No

The distance in between mounts on the ZX and the TL's is too large and won't bolt up. The RC calipers should all be the same and the lines will work fine. The only 6 pot type that fit are the 01-02 gsxr1000, although the sv1000 4 pot calipers will fit as well.

Ok, thanks, now I can do what I should have done a long time ago....

superhawk22 11-08-2006 08:05 AM

Give up? The 929/954 calipers work with a little grinding as well as the F4's or you can go crazy and change the front end and get bigger rotors with it as well.

Randman 11-08-2006 08:06 AM

Give up,,,,,that is a good idea....None the less I need brakes, so I think I am going to keep looking..

superhawk22 11-08-2006 08:08 AM

What you showed me looks pretty good.

Randman 11-08-2006 08:10 AM

Don't tell the others, they will get jealous!!:)

superhawk22 11-08-2006 08:16 AM

But they were sooo big!

Randman 11-08-2006 08:17 AM

I mean I don't like to Brag or anything, but geeezzz.... :-D :-D

Get the whole RC51 system if you want to fix the problem. The master on the VTR has a 14mm bore. Not as good as the 19mm bore on the RC.

Randman 11-19-2006 12:56 PM

Well the RC51 calipers don't just bolt right up, there is some grinding to do, now for a stupid question, what do you grind?? the part of the caliper that meets with the forks, or the part of the fork that meets with the caliper??

Anyone, superhawk22, Greg, etc.....

Hawkrider 11-19-2006 01:00 PM

You grind the caliper, not the mount. Grinding the mount would achieve the same result but would weaken it. That not good.

Randman 11-19-2006 01:02 PM

Gottcha, I kind of figured that, but wanted a second, more educated opinion in this matter before I really screwed things up....Thanks

Hawkrider 11-19-2006 01:28 PM

Well, your first mistake is assuming that either 22 or myself are "more educated".

Randman 11-19-2006 05:06 PM

How about a more experienced opionion..From a couple of old guys..LOL...:-D

Thanks for the info...

Yeah, what was HE thinking?

If you do a search someone has detailed pictures of where and how to grind them, I think it was on jschmidt's thread.
