BRAKE LINE QUESTION ????

If you have the same length brake lines from one bike ( say a yamaha r1 or gsxr ) , if they were the same length, would they bolt onto a different manufactures bike ? So are brake lines interchangable as long as the lengths are the same ?

would cbr1000 fit tl1000 , and so on ?

I don't think it's just the length as some applications may have different bends at the ends. For the most part tho, I think you can use them interchangeably.

Ok, i was thinking the same thing about the bends, but if the bends are a close match are they interchangable. How about if some of you guys can give some e.g of different lines fitting from differnt bikes.

Or do the banjo bolts become an issue ?

as far as i know all the banjo bolts are a standard size

Ok then if the banjo bolts are a standard size ( 10x22 ) & the line lengths are the same & the bends are a close match, then they should be interchangable. ??

More opinions would be great.

I've got Goodridge carbolines from an RC51 on my Firestorm. I don't know if the lines are for an SP1 or an SP2. The front lines are a bit short with the forks at the stock height, fully extended and with stock calipers. They're OK with the forks raised in the triples about 8 mm and with 954 calipers. The fitting for the left caliper at the master cylinder at the banjo bolt is at a slightly odd angle but nothing major. The clutch line is perfect. The rear brake line is a bit long. There is slight contact with it and the spring on the Penske but not enough to cause any wear on either the line or the spring. I've had the lines on the bike for 5 or 6 years. The stock banjo bolts can be used, if I recall correctly, except for the one at the front brake master cylinder. There are two lines going to that master cylinder unlike the stock setup which has one and the stock banjo bolt is too short.
