best exhaust
does anyone have experience with multiple types of exhaust on the vtr? any opinion on which one sounds the best (as if it doesnt sound awesome stock) or which exhaust performs best. im just tossing around some ideas on getting some exhaust in the future. thanks
|
most of the slipons are supposedly good for 3-5 hp and don't specifically require rejetting. You lose a bunch of weight, which is very nice and you can go to high mounts if you like that look better. I used to have staintune slipons which i really likeed the sounds, plus they had inserts to go quieter or louder - but many don't like the shiny stainless look. The sounds are all over the place and as you know its so subjective its hard to define. My exhaust currently is obviously the best one to get, because it sounds the best and weighs less than air and in effect makes the bike even lighter, and makes me a much better rider, and slightly better looking too........... :) OK maybe exagerating a bit there ............. but its a full system and on a stock engine there is zero performance gain going full vs. slipons.

Personally i am running High Mount Jardine RT-One Street baffle slip-ons. Had them on for about 25k miles with zero issues. I did re-jet and do have K&N filter with FP 4 degree ignition adv and no smog crap. Good luck on your decision... |
Advantages of slip-ons:
1. Less weight 2. The sound 3. The look I went from stock to Yosh carbon's to Jardine RT-1 high-mounts. The Yosh sounded awesome and somewhat quite and super light. The Jardine are pretty loud, sound mean and I like the look for the high-mount. So, I guess it really comes down to personal preference. |
im still all stock here and will be a long time till i can afford an upgrade but i will say this
i saw a red SH at the honda dealership when i went to pick up some parts and it had vance and hines on it ???? didnt know they made sportbike pipes and it sounded mean as hell :-) but when i look at thier site i cant find the vtr ..... found these online though http://www.sportdemon.com/product.asp?item=384377 it wasnt this set the ones on the SH were almost boxy very nice looking though ... i wanted em ;-) i have always had V&H pipes on my cruisers and love the sound and quality of them |
if you can build your own do something liek these. i might try to re-create these beasts with some help from my dad if he can find the time to teach me to weld. i would just us the stock cans or if i can find 2 identical things who knows... my buddy has jardines rt-1 and they some good to me and im still waiting to hear what devil pipes sound like

I have Two Bros C2 Stainless Steal cans. I set off lots of car alarms. The power increase was very noticeable as well. It was a lot peppier with hard roll ons around the 3500 rpm mark. Low rpm's I don't notice much. Some of the exhaust companies have recordings on their websites of what the cans sound like on certain bikes. It isn't an exact match, but it may help you narrow down your search. Two Bros has switched to a new design evidently, so I may actually be no help at all. I suck. I'm Sorry.

Go to the dealership. They are right there on the shelf next to the best oil and best tires to use. LOL :) Sorry, couldn't resist. |
i just got the two brothers m2 aluminum canisters(standard mount) they sound awesome, and i found that the bike had noticible power gains, and even more after i rejetted it
|
now can you change the needle marks or is a rejet required with slip on's alot of opinions i am sure.

Dosen't get real hot, kinda like carbon fiber, as a matter of fact you can touch the mufflers after ridding for a while, it's packed with some kinda fiber glass material used in a steel plant.
|
Looks a lot like the old Wolf undertail exhaust
|
hey guys I have a leo vince full exhaust and I also cut them in half!! The sound stands out among many!! It also looks way better as a high mount and gives a good view of the contour of the bike!
|
Why is this the first time we're seeing this crazy undertail??? thats fricken awsome dude...
Gotta lose those passenger pegs with an exhaust like that though, |
Nice peace of work. That exhaust is awsome!!

Man, I wish I had a smiley for this: "This Thread Is Worthless Without Video Clips!!!"
|
Just for you Greg, my Devils.
Ok, fixed it but I had to put up the full thing, unedited. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_DSCN0434.jpg |
crap, my link sucks...
|
Yup, sure does. Shows a 1kb file.
|
I'm a moron, after I edited it for size I deleted the original, guess that was a bad idea.
|
that undertail is really awesome. so far the leo vince and the jardine high mounts seem like my two better choices. i dont want to pay for yoshimuras. i dont want to pay for anything, but ill have to eventually.
|
video works now
|
