my local Honda wanted 27 for it!

I would be interested to see how the throttle response is on the honda tube. Like not only total turn difference but incremental diff.

On the self made ramps you get very little difference till you go partial throttle, so cruising is really the same, plus all partial stuff is tuneable.

I have seen this DIY mod for some time now. I just never got around to it. But because of Joe and others, I finally did it the other day. However, I made the ramp to aggressive. I mean, whenever my heart beat, the RPM's went up 1k haha Too much.
So, my second one the ramp was about 3/8" long (schedule 40 1" PVC).
To attach, I drilled in two spots a 1/16" hole through the PVC and the thottle tube. Then pushed a stainless steel finish nail (just slightly larger in diameter than 1/16") through both the PVC and throttle tube, and cut it flush. Doing it this way, it is mounted solid, but yet if I want to change the ramp in the future (which I ended up doing), it comes off easily & clean and doesn't leave glue all over the throttle tube.

It takes a but if getting used to, but after a couple dozen gear changes, it's a whole lot nicer. Makes rev matching a little twitch if the wrist now, instead of before, where you had to practically move your entire freakin' arm.

One thing is for sure, I'm NOT going back to stock!

BTW, after watching motogp and getting much better at wheelies, I think I may be ready for a "stage 2" ramp.

Jerry, I am strong(ish) on a racetrack but stink at wheelies. My hawk has the typical vtr awful clutch snatch at high rpm so havent bonzai'd a clutch up yet.

I hereby put you in charge of the blue ribbon committee for writing up how to do a clutch-up wheelie.

Having started with a 3.5 tecumseh on a rigid frame with a pull string tied to the govenor (it woild smoke my brothers big block 5hp Briggs and Stratton) I've been around awhile. I'm scared to do anything other than power up in 1st, its the clutch/shifting thing. One thing I've proven more than once, KEEP THE REAR BRAKE COVERED! Tip #2 have hot chicks watching. Tip #3 add half quart of oil so the pick up doesn't starve. Anybody else?

I had an extra Superhawk throttle tube and extra throttle cable, so I took a couple pictures for those that are still curious and haven't done this yet. In the pictures, I used 1" Schedule 40 PVC, however I don't recomend using this if you plan on drilling a hole in it to screw it down. The PVC slightly deforms, which makes the angle of the ramp change. I didn't notice this untill I put it on my extra throttle tube.

Get yourself a 1" Schedule 40 PVC coupler (has a 1 1/4" I.D.) like smokinjoe mentioned earlier he used. Cut it 1/4" long and then make the ramp.

Crux, nice pics. I see you have there a stage 2 kit. I plan to upgrade to that ramp soon. Just had to finish the rad job.

Stage 2 is installed. Hopefully have the bike together tonight to test it out. This ramp is between the one I just had on there and the very first one that was WAY to much. Jerry, this is your Wile E. Coyote version I'm testing out :)

Do you have to dremel out the body a bit to make it fit? I believe with the R1 one you do.

Yeah keep the research going. I get what you are saying about covering the back brake. The front was doing anything for my control.

Smokin are you running one cable on it? With 2 cables i can't get it back on.

Oh yeah one cable, this would be a good time to go to the single cable if you are not already. That too is an improvement.

You could adjust the cables at the carbs to fix that issue but thats a pain.
