Best Brake Pads

Who makes the best brake pads in the normal price range I dont want to go nuts spending wise, for my 03 SH

Thumper 01-30-2007 08:38 AM

Vesrah pads rock, no break-in required

mikstr 01-30-2007 09:55 AM

EBC HH (sintered) work well too

nuhawk 01-30-2007 12:03 PM

+1 EBC here too!

I gave away a set of Galfer green pads I didn't care for, but I have a set of Freodo sintergtrip XR pads I paid $150 for them if you want I'll give to you for $75 They are in excellent condition and only had a cupple of hundred miles on them. I upgraded to the RC51 brake system and no longer need them. I put the same pads back onthe bike and they work great.

Remember one thing most times you get what you pay for! Let me know and I'll send pictures.

I was the lucky recipient of lefin102's Galfer green pads. I like them very much compared to stock. I was thinking about doing a caliper swap, but after puting in aftermarket pads and doing a good bleed on the system, there is no need to (for my type of riding). I think you will be blown away by any aftermarket pad you put in. Much better performance!!

next question... what's the best oil for the VTR?

j/k..lol. I've had good luck with ebc HH and also DP.

I almost hit the quote button there but thought the better of it :laughing2: :laughing2:  :laughing2:

Does the 00 RC51 mc use the same 10 X 1.25 mm diameter banjo bolt as the VTR? I've been running clear Russells' with black wire wrap for years with I think a clear Galfer in back. Performance with the EBC HH is just OK, are the Vesrah or Ferodo's better (and much more pricy?). I have not tried the Dunlopad on the VTR either but used them on my Baby Hawk. Did Muzzy have any VTR clutch lines on clearance (gotta check I guess).

Hawkrider 02-02-2007 06:22 PM

Yes on the banjo size.

EBC HHs should be just fine. Try a m/c upgrade and a good bleed.

No on the Muzzys.

Slokie, please check your PMs.

RC-VTR Brake MC Banjo Bolt Size

thanks Greg,

10 X 1.25 great, a friend just went to brembo brake & clutch on his RC51 and I thought I might give it a try over the winter sub-zero nights. I always do a good bleed.

The RC mc, lever, resevoir, bracket will just bolt on up?

Did u mean "skokie" rather than "Slolie"? And what do you mean by "please check your PMs"?

B
