Anyone know how to install jet kit?

Hello. Just recently bought 2000 Hawk. It came to my attention that the previous owner didn't jet the carbs when he put on the aftermarket exhaust. So, in order to save money, I want to attempt it myself. Few questions. Stage one or two? As a novice mechanic, is this something I can handle? Any advice or first hand experience would be helpful. Thanks guys.

do a search on "jets", you do not need to buy a jet kit if you are trying to save money. You can shim needles and replace individual jets. JB

Carb r and r and installing jets and needles is not something I would recommend for a novice mechanic. Especially the carb r and r part...a pain in the ass on this bike in my opinion.

If it's running okay with no flat spots through the rpm range, you may not need to rejet. But even with stock exhaust, the SuperHawk benefits from some carb work, and with aftermarket exhaust you are most likely running too lean.

Oh, and welcome. You may want to formally introduce yourself to the Unofficial Superhawk Forum. You'll probably get better response to your questions.

It's all been talked about in the last couple of weeks, a search should give you all the info you need.

Thanks for the info guys. Bike definitely has flat spots in first and second gear at low rpm. I'll probably leave the work to someone who knows what they are doing.
