Again with the cbr600 fork

So here is this mess again. I am building a zx10 front end but came across a 600rr full front for cheap. SO........

The only issue is the spring rate right? So I swap out springs and off I go right?

I spent a lot of time reading the fork swap sticky but not much is said about the 600 forks. I feel like if they are beefy enuff for supersport racing then they are plenty beefy enuff for daily use.

Any wisdom appreciated since I dont fully see the downside. Thanks.

I can tell. You that the gent I bought my RC51 forks from had them on his Honda hawk gt 650 and said they were to beefy so he switched to CBR 600 forks. That says something to the rigidity I guess. Other than that its just spring rates valving and fork length.

Hmm, well yeah, its spring rate, valving and length. But therin lies the question. How long are they? Maybe I will PM Jamie. I had another question for him anyway.

Scobey you are running rc51 forks?

OK well. The deal on a whole cbr front end was just too good so a quick trip to the Bronx and I got it. With the gull wing top triple it looks like I can keep the geometry I have on the bike right now.

Plus its narrower than my B VTR fork which is a CBR1000rr fork. I will be happy to not lose so much steering lock.

Will make this work & post updates. Looks simple, what could go wrong? (LOL)

I think the first 200 of his posts reference his bike running RC51 forks. Come on Scoobs, you know you loved telling members about your fork swap :p

Smokin', what year CBR600 forks are you talking about?

smokinjoe73 10-30-2014 09:50 PM

I got a 2007 front end. As of now it does look a bit short, but havent done any exact measurements. I have my vtr forks like 7.5cm above the triples so between that and the gullwing I hope to pull it off.

May need to lower the rear since I have the penske shock at full length and a spacer.

am doing a similar conversion and am curious to know if the 600 front end was too short or if it worked out? have just got a 2008 zx 10 as part donor and comparing the front end to the cbr600 i already have on my hawk they are longer and triple tree is different., can anyone give me advice on this?
