Found this today.

This might be a fun project for someone. The TL motors are rated at 130hp

might as well got and look at the Hayabusa motors cuz fitting the TLR engine will be just as fun as trying to fit a Busa engine...

Hey, D.I.D> how you make out on the TLR? If you are not going after the steal, Would you consider being a middle, P.R. man.
I have a brother that collects suzuki bikes(step child,(kidding) and has been looking for one of those bikes... Please let me know...

My engine is right now at 120'ish hp and soon it will be at 130'ish hp... And it already fit's the frame...

The TLR and TLS are setup different. Almost like the VTR and the RVT. I'd be really surprised if a TLR actually made 130hp. By the way, the VTR has the same bore and stroke of the TL, so with the same CR and cam profile it should be in the same hp ballpark. A piston and cam change is a whole lot easier than fabing a TL motor in a VTR.

No TL engine, whether an R or an S, made 130 hp in stock form.

+1

Should note also that the fueling is near perfect, unlike the TLs which were reputed to suffer from abrupt fueling thanks to their early generation FI systems....

Yup, that was one of my biggest complaints about my TLS. Though it definitely had a bit more punch. It was super inhumane to my bum hip and knee though...it didn't last long in my stable. ;)

I'd rather try to fit a rc51 or 1098r engine

1971allchaos 11-19-2010 10:50 PM

Got that swap in the works, I have heard of putting the RC-51 engine in the S-hawk frame, Yet i believe it would be easier to put a S-hawk engine in a NT650 hawk frame-which i know Honda America did(proto-type(VR980) of course.

Just_Nick 11-20-2010 02:09 AM

Or buy a rc51 frame, engine, swingarm, wheels forks, subframe, and fairings.

1971allchaos 11-20-2010 02:50 AM

Hey jus' Nick, your missing the point. I have two RC-51(2003 red, and 2006 black) and my 2001 Superhawk. I have all those components that you suggested and enough to do quite a few conversions- Yet if you read the thread- The thought was to put a Puzuki engine in a S-hawk. so i am confused with your suggestion..

Just_Nick 11-20-2010 10:16 AM

It's sarcasm. A superhawk is a superhawk, why try adding a different engine?

Wicky 11-20-2010 03:09 PM

it'll be interesting in a different engined VTR1000F to see where the swingarm goes....

The engine is what makes a superhawk a superhawk. Take away the heart of the beast and what do you have.

On a side note I have wanted to take a 900SS CR and throw in a TL1000 or a superhawk engine. Sacraligious I know, but you would have the best of both worlds, Itallian beauty and honda or suzuki reliability.
