1st Dyno Run

Alright, the first dyno run is in. 99.6 Hp and 65.6 Tq.

It was running super fat at about 10.8!
Also it looks light my valve springs might be a bit weak on top, you can see a bit of activity just above 8500 that looks like they are a bit weak, not surprising though.
Step one, lean it out a bit. When I first got the bike it 2bros pipes and a K&N though it fell flat on its face at wot. I assumed the squid I got it from never jetted for the pipes and filter, so I put in an OEM and it cleaned right up. Looks like it was jetted all along, but I have no idea how. So, this winter when the heads come off and the new springs go in, I suppose some jetting is in order. Dyno guy says jetting alone is 5hp in this instance.

Also, I was not expecting him to drill a hole in both my pipes for his lamda's, though I have to say I was planning on doing that all along, it was still a shock at first watching someone else drill into my pipes. I sense a joke in that sentence somewhere...

I would expect to see a large sharp loss of HP if the valves were not being controlled at high RPM (floating)

Agreed, I could hear it having an issue and my first thought was misfire, otherwise why would the power curve pick back up? Either way, the gentleman with the has a lot of experience with rc51's and SH's. and he recognized that issue as being normal for our bikes. Truthfully I've never even checked the lash so...

Stock CCTs" Fair amount of miles?
If so, bet you cant get the cam timing "just right" the marks (or cam position) is just a bit off.
Cam chain wear is common with the resulting of cam timing being off a little or more.
I want new Web Cams as much for the adjustable cam gears as the different profile.

Stock CCT but the miles are under 10k. When I dropped off that head you just sold me I also dropped off my extra cam gears for slotting. This winter it gets torn down again for a real deep cleaning and some mods. I think for the most part the bike will remain stock as far as suspension and chassis as I am happier with the SH than most any other street/sport bike I've ridden. Stainless lines in the front are high on the list, new tires as well. If I can somehow sneak it into the budget I'd like a VTR front wheel and a 900rr rear, we'll see. 520 Chain set with stock gearing is also kinda high. I think I might cut my other flywheel down to the Morwaki spec if I have the time. Jetting is a must, high mount pipes would be awesome, heads and my freshly balanced/lightened rotating assembly would be freaking amazing. Oh yeah and the degreed cams. Aside from that I need a metal chain guard and a lanyard kill switch and I'm good to go at Loring for the 19' season.

Oh and stick coils too.

2020 (depending on $) will bring revised head work again to accommodate the Web cams and big pistons. That will likely precede a divorce.

Fooker better ask permission before he drilled into mine (which he wouldn't be doing)!

You're about 10hp down from my run sheet. It's pretty rich so I can't help but wonder where it'd be with that K&N in there.

ACE VenTRa 08-17-2018 01:36 AM

Oh that K&N is long gone. I suspect the mains are a few sizes too large. That and my AF screws were out a bit too much. I turned them in yesterday and it made a huge difference with that alone. Interestingly both the front and rear carb were tuned almost dead nuts the same.

I have to say that I have been planning on O2 sensors for a gauge for quite some time, but when the moment came I definitely skipped a beat. I feel better now.

Ok, so an update. New plugs are in, old ones were at .029", now set to .031" ish. Pair is deleted. Carb coolant is bypassed, for this mod all one needs to do is remove the short hose from the t-stat housing then shorten the hose from the pump and connect it to the stem on the t-stat. Easy peasy and clean looking. Main jets are now 185/180, the clips are on the 4th slot down iirc and the pilots have been unplugged. AF screws are 2.5 out each as per DJ instruction manual. Maybe tomorrow I'll be done.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...f91a32c67d.jpg

Aww yeah, 2nd gear throttle up wheelie....jetting is good!

Wolverine 08-24-2018 08:02 PM

Imagine it was a yellow one... 10 extra hp. :evillaugh:
